Chapter 1 - “When the Rain Knew Our Names”

It was one of those quiet afternoons when the sky couldn't decide whether to smile or cry. The air smelled of wet earth, and the soft drizzle painted the world in silver. Aarav stood at the bus stop, his headphones on, lost in a song that spoke more to his heart than he'd ever admit.

That's when he saw her.

She ran through the rain, holding a book over her head, laughing as if the world was her friend. Strands of her hair clung to her face, and her eyes sparkled with something that felt… alive. She reached the bus stop, slightly breathless, and glanced at him.

"Mind if I stand here?" she asked.

Aarav nodded, pulling off one side of his headphones. "Of course."

That was all it took. Just two words, and something shifted.

Her name was Meera. She loved books, sunsets, and the smell of rain. Aarav, on the other hand, was quiet, someone who kept his feelings hidden behind music and silence. But somehow, Meera found a way in.

Days turned into weeks. They began meeting at the same bus stop, at the same time, as if fate had written their schedules. They talked about everything—dreams, fears, silly childhood memories. Aarav started laughing more. Meera started waiting more.

One evening, the rain came again.

"Do you believe in love?" Meera asked, watching the droplets fall.

Aarav hesitated. "I think… love is when someone becomes your habit. Like breathing. You don't notice it until it's gone."

Meera smiled softly. "Then I think I'm in love."

Aarav's heart skipped. "With who?"

She looked at him, her eyes steady and honest. "With the boy who waits at this bus stop every day, pretending he doesn't care."

Silence filled the space between them, but it wasn't empty. It was full—of fear, hope, and something fragile yet powerful.

Aarav took a deep breath. "I was just scared… that if I said it out loud, I might lose it."

Meera stepped closer. "You won't."

And for the first time, he didn't hold back. "I love you, Meera."

The rain fell harder, as if the sky was celebrating. They stood there, not caring about the world, the noise, or the future. In that moment, it was just them—and the rain that knew their story from the very beginning.

Years later, whenever it rained, Aarav would smile and say, "It's our day."

And Meera would reply, "No… it's the day the rain taught us how to love."
