Endless golden flames and blue ice flames continued to rage across the ruins of the base.

They burned fiercely, as if they were the everlasting, inextinguishable true fire of the sun itself. Hundreds of meters up in the sky, Jia Na's eyes burned with pure hatred, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.

"Good! Very good!"

Looking down at the relentlessly blazing inferno, the fury in Jia Na's heart reached its absolute boiling point.

With such terrifying destructive power unleashed, he no longer held any illusions that his experimental base and research lab could have survived intact. That was a human experimentation facility he had spent over a decade building.

Now that all his hard work had gone down the drain in a single moment, Jia Na's resentment toward Xiao Lin deepened into an obsessive grudge. Staring down at Xiao Lin, who was currently retracting his staff, an invisible, tangible killing intent materialized within Jia Na's heart.

The next second, he completely unleashed the crushing pressure of his Soul Emperor level soul power, and his appearance underwent a drastic, grotesque transformation.

Unlike his initial martial soul possession, which made him look like an elegant, refined gentleman, Jia Na now looked like a complete, mismatched monstrosity. Alongside the traits from his original martial soul possession, numerous other organic parts had sprouted across his body.

He now sported a pair of emerald-green, giant scythes that gleamed with a metallic luster, as well as an emerald-green snake head coiled tightly around his neck, its fork tongue continuously flicking out to taste the air.

Finally, from his back sprouted eight massive, aggressively flailing spider legs. Each leg was incredibly sharp, glinting with a cold light as drops of purple venom slowly dripped from their tips.

Down below, Xiao Lin raised a hand over his eyes to get a clearer look, his brow furrowing deeply. He couldn't comprehend how the degenerate in front of him had managed to acquire the traits of so many different soul beasts.

Was it external soul bones? No, this was clearly not the case.

This situation resembled the stitched-together monsters of mad scientists from the stories of his past life. The only difference was that when this degenerate wasn't transformed, these insectoid and soul beast organs remained completely hidden.

Gazing up at the degenerate high in the sky, Xiao Lin quickly identified some of the extra anatomy. The scythes came from a Nether Mantis, representing one of the most exquisite biological weapons in the soul beast world, known as the Nether Scythes.

It was said to be forged from the purest essence of moonlight; every single swing could unleash a blade of moonlight thinner than a moonbeam itself. The emerald-green snake head seemed to originate from a Medusa-type venomous soul beast.

A single glance from a Medusa's eyes could inflict a petrification curse upon a soul master, rendering them completely immobile. As for those eight massive spider legs, they were none other than the Eight Spider Lances that Xiao Lin had once dreamed of obtaining.

Originating from a Man-Faced Demon Spider, these massive legs carried an incredibly lethal toxins. He was a literal, ultimate stitched-together freak. Xiao Lin finally understood what kind of evil soul master this degenerate was.

In all likelihood, this freak had been continuously murdering other soul masters, using their bodies to conduct human-soul beast hybridization experiments. Somehow, he had actually figured out a way to make it work.

Considering that he had just utilized his Tool Soul Avatar, Xiao Lin's soul power consumption was quite severe. Therefore, he had no intention of fighting this degenerate head-on in a solo duel. Nor did he believe that having his companions join the fray would be of any help to him.

The fact that the enemy could fly was simply too much of a broken advantage. While Xiao Lin's attack range wasn't short by any means, the enemy would definitely scout out his exact limits through testing.

Thus, Xiao Lin planned to lure the enemy deeper into the core zone of the Far North. At the same time, this would give Ye Lingling and the others an opportunity to escape. Whatever happened, they couldn't afford to stick around until the enemy's reinforcements arrived.

With this thought flashing through his mind, Xiao Lin decisively withdrew his Horned Dragon Staff. He immediately activated his second soul skill, Flowing Shadow Lightning Flash, and bolted straight toward the northern reaches of the Far North.

However, after running for a brief three or four seconds, Xiao Lin glanced back over his shoulder.

He realized that the degenerate wasn't pursuing him at all. Instead, the freak was flying directly toward the area where Ye Lingling and the others were hiding.

"Damn it! It's the scent tracking and thermal perception of a snake-type soul beast!"

Xiao Lin knew there would be no escaping for now.

He wouldn't have the time to recover his soul power. Left with no other choice, he could only wheel around and rush back.

"Tang Ni! Watch out for his phosphor powder! Don't look into the snake head's eyes, and block his scythes—"

A distance of several hundred meters was still too far.

By the time Xiao Lin's warnings finally reached them, they were already a second too late.

Ye Lingling and the Shi brothers had already caught sight of the Medusa's eyes. A layer of grayish-white, cement-like substance instantly crept across their bodies, locking them completely rigid and motionless where they stood.

At this critical moment, only Tang Ni, with her wealth of rich combat experience, managed to cautiously fix her gaze on Jia Na without accidentally making eye contact with the Medusa head.

"Damn it!"

Xiao Lin was consumed by a wave of bitter regret.

In his attempt to draw the enemy away and give his teammates a chance to escape, he had inadvertently caused them to fall into a trap instead. There was no time to grieve for the three of them.

Within a single breath, Jia Na's next attack had already descended right upon Tang Ni. Countless moonlight blades—so incredibly thin they were practically invisible to the naked eye—rained down relentlessly toward the paralyzed trio.

The enemy's objective was crystal clear: he intended to slaughter the defenseless Ye Lingling and the Shi brothers on the spot. Yet, from Xiao Lin's distant vantage point, something seemed off with Tang Ni.

Facing the enemy's onslaught, she wasn't choosing to mount a defense; instead, she looked as though she was on the verge of abandoning the three immobilized teammates.

"Tang Ni! They can still be saved!"

Xiao Lin's sudden, booming shout snapped Tang Ni back.

Choosing to trust him, she stepped forward alone, shielding Ye Lingling and the brothers with her own body. As the endless torrent of moonlight blades poured down from the sky, Tang Ni fully unleashed her martial soul possession.

She triggered four soul skills in rapid succession, spinning her Golden Dragon Spear so fast it formed an airtight, impenetrable wall of defense. But even so, her Golden Dragon Spear was only so long. Stray moonlight blades inevitably managed to slip past her flanks.

In an instant, cracks began to splinter across the "cement" casing trapping the burly Shi brothers. Fresh blood seeped slowly from the fractures, only to be instantly flash-frozen by the extreme environment of the Far North.

If this continued, the biting cold would seep deep into the Shi brothers' bodies, and it wouldn't be long before they froze to death from the inside out.

Jia Na had calculated exactly the same outcome as Xiao Lin. Seeing the Shi brothers bleeding, he began to draw back his scythes, concentrating the full force of his long-range barrage entirely onto Tang Ni.

Under the continuous, suffocating bombardment of dense moonlight blades, even Tang Ni's Golden Dragon Spear defense began to falter. A few blades breached her guard, slicing into her flesh one after another and causing blood to spill from her wounds.

Fortunately, Tang Ni was fundamentally resilient against the freezing temperatures of the Far North. She stood like a fortress right in front of Ye Lingling, ensuring the young girl didn't sustain a single scratch!

"Go to hell!"

Xiao Lin roared in pure fury as a black soul ring suddenly flashed beneath his feet.

"Comet Star Strike!"

Faced with Jia Na's relentless cruelty, Xiao Lin had absolutely no intention of holding back.

The moment he drew close to Tang Ni and the others, he re-activated his Tool Soul Avatar.

With the ice and fire dual cores fused and the three-stage burst of Flowing Shadow Lightning Flash fully engaged, Xiao Lin's Horned Dragon Staff flared with the brilliant, burning colors of a comet's tail, smashing directly down toward Jia Na.

"Can't take it anymore? You destroyed my laboratory; not a single one of you is leaving here alive."

Jia Na let out a cold sneer. Yet, looking up at the colossal staff hurtling down from above, he wisely chose to retreat. With a nimble twist in mid-air, he easily utilized his massive aerial mobility to dodge Xiao Lin's strike.

"Heh! I'll admit your attacks are powerful, but the ground is all yours. What are you going to do now?" Jia Na taunted, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

But in the very next second, a sudden, searing pain of burning flesh shot through him. He instinctively looked down. Right after, his eyes widened in sheer horror. He stared in absolute disbelief at a few seemingly insignificant, tiny sparks of fire clinging to his scythes.
