In the isolated village, the fat guy's shrill voice rang out with a woman's intonation, rising and falling in a high-pitched song. At this dusk hour, it sounded so eerie, like a madman at the start of a horror movie, making strange moves with the feeling of being the only sober one among the drunken crowd. When the protagonist and supporting characters thought he was a fool, they'd only realize on the brink of death that this madman might be the one who truly saw through everything.
Mr. Su Bai knew he seemed like a hindrance in the group, but he actually had no other choice at the time. If he hadn't intervened, and the fat guy got possessed by the suffering soul again, the fat guy likely wouldn't be singing "Su San" but banging his head against the wall. By doing so, even though the fat guy still got possessed by some wandering spirit, at least the ghost was somewhat elegant.
