Aria’s spine locked. Her hands curled into fists.
“She’s with me,” Damon said calmly.
But the air trembled.
Zack, a smirking lord from the Southern House, leaned forward, fangs glinting.
“Then tell us, little human—what do we call you?”
He rose, steps slow, predatory, as he approached her side.
Aria didn’t flinch.
She glared at him like she wanted to slit his throat.
Before Zack could reach her, Damon’s voice sliced through the hall,
“Touch her, Zack—”
His tone dropped to ice.
“—and die.”
Silence.
The music stopped.
Dozens of vampire nobles froze, staring at their king, who now stood at Aria’s side—cold, tall, and impossibly still. His hand rested lightly at her back, claiming her with one small, lethal gesture.
Zack slowly stepped away, his smirk wiped clean.
“She is mine,” Damon said, his voice echoing like thunder.
“And no one touches what belongs to me.”
