Seventeen years ago, the Great Blackout plunged Aether Harbor into darkness. For terrifying days the entire city fell into a coma. Thousands died silently in their beds, faces frozen in unimaginable horror. To stop it, something was selaed. The government declared it a bio-terrorism attack and closed the case. They lied. Two hidden organizations have been fighting in the shadows ever since. The Aether Suppression Bureau — a ruthless secret agency buried within Japan’s Ministry of Defense — hunts and weaponizes anything supernatural. To them, awakened humans are nothing more than dangerous national assets to be controlled or eliminated. Standing against them are the Dream Wardens, an ancient decentralized order dedicated to maintaining balance. They believe the Abyss must be respected and contained, not exploited, and that those who awaken deserve guidance instead of chains. Now the seal is breaking. It is divided into five increasingly grotesque and deadly layers: the deceptive beauty of the Shifting Veil, the rotting personal horrors of the Memory Mire, the flesh-made city of the Veil of Flesh, the bone-chilling Bone Cathedral, and the abyssal prison where the selaed being waits to consume everything. Only Yohan and Mirai, the rare Mirror-Bound pair, can descend into the lowest layer of the Abyss together. Their awakened powers — Yohan’s explosive Titan Velocity granting superhuman strength and speed, and Mirai’s Mirage Veil that crafts deadly illusions — grow stronger when they are close, but every use risks deadly Echo Burn. As disgusting creatures from the Abyss begin spilling into the streets, peeling skin, burrowing through flesh, and wearing stolen faces while victims scream, the pair must forge a reluctant bond.
