Something was wrong, I was certain of this, not just a mere feeling. Nephthys was never this lovely, and she would never, ever be like that with me. This kind of behavior from my wife only made me raise my guard and be more careful around her. She wasn't as powerful as I was, but that didn't mean that she wasn't capable of inflicting harm.
As I mentioned before, her level of intellect and cunning was almost as great as mine, and ordinary people would be no match for her. I looked at Nephthys and said with a smile, "Well, well, well, this is quite the surprise. Who would have thought that you could put on such a lovely sight for your dear husband?"
"You've been away for a very long time, darling," she replied, her tone flirting, "it's only natural that I please you after you returned home."
I approached her but didn't say anything. She looked into my eyes and remained silent too. Suddenly, after quite a long moment of silence, I said, "Apologies, my dear, I wasn't able to bring any gifts as I was busy with some matters."
She put on a beautiful smile that covered her wickedness well and said while resting her hand on my shoulder, "But you have already given me the best of gifts."
"Oh? Is that so?"
"Oh yes! Don't you think that the killing of Osiris is the best of gifts?"
I was speechless at her response, not because I didn't have anything to say, but because my body froze.
I couldn't move.
My nerves were immobilized, and I couldn't even lift a finger. Something must have happened; she must have something to do with it. And then I started to fall unconscious; however, before I passed out, I saw her face and the true expression written on it: a smiling, wicked hawk.
...
For a very long period of time, I felt like I was in a dream, watching on as someone else controlled my body and committed awful things. But now, now I was awake.
I opened my eyes to a blinding light, causing me to flinch, only for it to be replaced by the figure of a beautiful woman. "Oh, you're finally awake. How do you feel?"
She retreated a little bit, and I slowly straightened my back, looking at her with muddy eyes. My head was killing me. I felt drowsy and even muddle-headed, though the latter was fading away with the passing of each second.
"My name is Nephthys, sorry for the inconvenience of your awakening," she lowered her head as a greeting that befitted a lady of her stature. She was no normal lady at that.
Nepthys, daughter of the Egyptian god of earth, Geb, and the goddess of the sky, Nut. Sister to the Pharaoh Osiris, his queen Isis, the decayed Horus the Elder, and Set. Her relationship with Set was even taken to another level as she became his wife. Although history dictates that those two never got along.
Those people and their disgusting relationships are Richard's descendants, technically making them my descendants as well. Even so, I had no love for them whatsoever; only disgust. My eyes were as cold as the tone of my voice when I replied, "I know who you are."
"I see, so you saw everything that happened?" she asked, startled by the coldness of my reaction.
"Yes."
"What's your name?" Her question carried suspicions, even hesitation, as to who I am.
"And how is that your business?"
"So cold! Did my spell not work?"
"Although I don't like Set at all, I don't like you either, so don't expect me to put on fake expressions as you do."
"Oh, so it worked!" she exclaimed, completely ignoring my insult. That's right, after a few days of being under Set's control, I, Orion, have awakened.
