Chapter 1 - Homecoming

God!

Nevaeh tapped her feet and roles her eyes in annoyance. She hated these gatherings with a passion. She had been standing there for over half an hour.

All the nobles in the kingdom of Shadowmair were now standing in the throne room of the royal castle. Today was meant to be a glorious day as the Crown price was coming home for the first time in over eighteen years.

Allegedly, he left the castle for personal reasons and never came back. The circumstances are a bit sketchy but the only people who know the whole truth are the king and queen consort/the crown prince's step mother.

Twenty-five years ago the queen dyed while giving birth to the kings first son, the crown prince, Angel. When Angel was four years old the King had remarried for political reasons but refused to make his new wife queen. A year after that the second prince, Theodore, was born.

What happened next is a mystery. All anyone knows is that the fist prince left only three days after his brother's birth. He hasn't been back to the castle since; not even for the birth of his other half siblings. That's why this event is such a huge deal.

My patience is wearing thin but what can I do? It is the King's command that no one leaves until his son returns. I'm just afraid that he won't show up.

For the nth time I looked around the room due to my complete and utter boredom. The stone was and marble floor seemed less and less extravagant every time I looked at them. The stone pillars that stretched from the floor all the way to the marvelous ceiling. The ceiling had the effect of glass; it was bewitched to look like the sky however there are four flours above it. The people in the room all wore elegant and beautiful attire. The women in their fluffy ball gowns and the men wearing there suits that all at one point looked dashing. That is they looked dashing five hours ago when they had first arrived. By this time everyone's face had turn sour with the exception of the king who was smiling like a madman. The Consort was the opposite of her husband as she had a permanent scowl on her face.

When I looked up at the throne I saw Prince Theodore standing a his mother's side looking very angry if I do say so myself. It is no secret that the second prince did not particularly like his elder brother. He would openly criticize Prince Angel and would often get reprimanded by his father and grandfather.

I was brought out of my thoughts when the double doors of the throne room opened. In walked tall and well built young man. His very presence exuded power and elegance. He looked like a God as the light from above reflected off his hair giving him a halo.

'He's gorgeous!' that was the only thing I could think in that moment. His electric blue eyes shone with amusement as he smiled and showcased his perfectly white teeth.

"I'm sorry I'm late," he said with the voice of a literal angel. "I had some socks that just had to be folded." Gasps went all around the room. Everyone was outraged! Including me. This man is telling us that we've been standing around for FIVE hours because he had to fold socks!?! He's a Prince for Gods' sake!!

Before another person could say a single world the king erupted from laughter. "You are truly my son!" he said. The king got up off his throne and went to hug his son. The two of them embraced each other like any father and son would. Leaving the consort and second prince with frowns on their faces.

"Welcome home Angel."
