Chapter 2 - Silencing Spell

"My son has finally come home son now let the feast begin!" All the guests began to move to the dining hall including myself when I was stopped by my father.

"Dear, we need to talk."

Any conversation that starts like that is bound to be a bad one. My father and I have never had a 'good' relationship; it's never been bad but not good either. With him being a Duke and a very successful business man he really doesn't have the time to be around me.

After a minute or two the throne room was completely empty with the exception of me and my father. He pulled me to the side and looked directly into my eyes. For my father that was unusual. He hasn't looked me in the eyes since my mother died when I was ten years old. His brown eyes had regret and worry.

"Father, what's wrong? Your scaring me." He looked as if he were about to break down and cry. He ran His fingers through his red hair making it untidy and that wasn't like him.

"That man-" he paused with a gulp. "The prince-" as his he was feeling physical pain he grunted and a single tear slipped from his eyes. "I met him before."

"Father!" I yelled when he fell hard to his knees. He began to cough up blood and I didn't know what to do. "HELP!" Tears ran down my face as I knelt beside my father.

"No one's coming." said a calm voice. I looked up to she the crown prince with a calm expression on his perfect face.

"Please your Highness! Please help us!" I've always hated grovelling but this is what it's come to.

"The pain will stop as soon as he stops trying to talk about our past encounters." "What are you talking about?" How did they know each other?

"Nevaeh, two years ago I cast a silencing spell on your dad. This is the result of it." The whole time he was smiling at me. It wasn't a sinister smile but a warm and comforting one and yet something was off. The look in his eyes sent chills down my spine.

"How do you know my name?" His smile widened and he just chuckled.

"D-de-devil!" my father said through his choked breaths. I looked at my dad struggling to breath then to the dashing man who was now leaning in front of me. The prince waved his had across my dad's face mumbling "Sleep" and just like that my dad was out like a light.

"He'll be fine Nevaeh, don't worry too much. I'll have a servant help the both of you to a guess bedroom." with that he got up and walked away.

"Wait!" he stopped and turned to look at me with the a knowing smile and amused eyes. "Yes?" His voice was gentle and could fool anyone into believing anything he said but I was determined.

"His do you know me? How do you know my fath-" before I could finish my question he put his finger to his lips saying 'Sshh' and the words were literally stuck in my throat. I literally could not speak.

"Like I've already said Duke Carlisle and I have a history and a for you Lady Nevaeh," he paused and walked up to me, closing the space between us. He angled his neck so that his nose was barely an inch from mine. I moved to take a step back but he held me in place with his left hand on my back. My face burned and I could tell I was blushing like crazy. He leaned in even further putting his lips behind my ear and whispered, "We have a history too."
