The loops were never the System.
That part I understood the second the memories finished landing. I had always been able to come back. I just never kept enough of myself to notice. Every death sanded the slate until only déjà vu and phantom pain survived. Enlightenment wasn't a gift. It was the first time the wheel slipped and I stayed on it with my eyes open.
The blue windows were something else. A lucky break. A crack in whatever broader machine ran the universe. Maybe the blood the vampire called extravagant finally mattered. Maybe dying forty-seven times in the same alley in front of an audience of Shadows finally qualified as a unique condition. It didn't matter. The windows were here now. I could use them.
I sat on my bed with the notebook and the Status screen and made the goal simple.
Stop dying.
Level up.
Get strong enough that "Laundry" doesn't get a forty-eighth version of me.
The System, for once, was helpful.
[New Function Unlocked: Mundane Accumulation]
Everyday actions generate Experience.
Certain completed tasks generate Dungeon Keys.
Keys open System Dungeons — isolated spaces where death does not trigger a full reset.
Warning: Dungeon death still hurts. Dungeon death still costs.
I stared at that last line. The loops were mine. The System was just giving me a place to practice dying without going all the way back to Principal Smith calling my name.
First test was as stupid as it sounded.
I made my bed.
Folded the graduation gown.
Washed the blood out of the shirt I had worn in a life that no longer existed on this timeline.

My hands stopped.
The System wanted me to grind chores for keys to a dungeon that was probably a copy of the place I kept dying.
I kept going.
Took out the trash.
Wiped the kitchen because Dad would be gone another two days and the sink had become a science experiment.
Did a set of push-ups until my arms shook. The body in this loop was still the slacker version—Strength 8, Vitality jacked only because the Trait refused to let the blood stay dead.

Unassigned stat point available.
I dumped it into Will. If the loops were mine, Will was the thing that let me keep the memories. I needed more of that before anything else.
Will: 14 → 15
A second window opened without asking.

Mundane tasks. Keys. Dungeons where I could fight the echo of the thing instead of the real one. Level up inside a box the universe apparently carved out because I had looped too many times for it to ignore.
I wrote the plan in the notebook under the death tally.
Finish the three fragments for Alley That Remembers before dawn if I can.
Enter it. Learn how he moves when he isn't trying to make a point for the Shadows.
Do not treat dungeon death like loop death. It will still feel like the hand going through my chest.
Get a class. Get a skill that isn't just seeing ghosts and marking the bastard who keeps killing me.
Next real night, I am not the one on the ground.
Outside, the Shadows in the corners of the room had gone still, like they were waiting to see whether I would actually do the dishes for power.
I stood up, grabbed the sponge, and started on the counter.

One more mundane thing. Then I would see what a System dungeon actually was.
The vampire still had a party to attend. I had a kitchen to finish and a key to complete.
For the first time in forty-seven deaths, the night felt like it belonged to me for a few hours.
[Acknowledged.]
[Grind recognized.]
