"Since you seem to think they would discharge make even is there was something wrong with me." she added with another tired sigh as Xia raised an eyebrow in question.
Si Xia sighed as he stopped fussing and wrapped his arms around her. "I was so worried that something bad had happened to you." he said, inhaling Chen's scent, to further assure himself that his world had not just upside down on its axis. "Something bad did happen." Chen said. She added with a shudder as Xia held her shoulders and gave her another once over for good measure, "Just not to me."
Xia breathed another sigh of relief as he asked, peering deep into Chen's troubled eyes, "What happened?"
Yu Chen had opened her mouth to answer when a voice behind Xia disrupted their conversation. "We would definitely like to know that." It was the policemen who had followed the injured in their car and had been asked to wait until the patients were cleared before taking any statements. "Could you give us an account of what happened?" added a female officer as Si Xia turned around to shield Chen behind his back.
"She has just gone through . . . ." he began, but his voice trailed off as Chen put a reassuring hand on his arm and said, "I should. Someone needs to report the muggers anyways." Xia nodded and tightened his grip on Chen's shoulders as he led her behind the two police officers into the cafeteria. The little hairs on his arms and the back of his neck had stood up upon hearing the word 'muggers'. God he had a bad feeling about this.
Yu Chen walked back out after about half an hour, holding on to Si Xia's arm. "No officer. For the hundredth time, I have absolutely no idea who the muggers were." she said in a tired tone, rubbing a hand over her temples. "But Miss Yu," the female officer began, but was silenced by the low growl that escaped Si Xia's throat.
She turned to him as Xia said, "She has already told you everything officer. If you are so hell bent on finding out the identities of the muggers, I'll put you in the emergency room and then you can ask them yourself."
The officer looked horror stricken and her head bounced between Si Xia, Yu Chen and the other officer in indignation. Chen realised that Xia had just threatened a police officer, which could easily land him in the lock - up for the night, but she couldn't bring herself to care. She had had a long day, and an even longer night. All she wanted to do was collapse somewhere and get some sleep. Plus the female officer seemed convinced she knew her muggers and was not telling them about it.
Seeing that no one was coming to her rescue, the female officer began, "You cannot talk to a police officer this way . . . . " But her voice trailed off as her partner dragged her away. Though he was whispering, both Chen and Xia clearly heard him in the silence of the hospital. "Stop it. Don't you know who that man is?!?! He is Si Xia, the CEO of Si Corporation. He could eat your job if he wanted." The female's eyes widened in surprise as she turned her head to stare at the Si Xia.
