Her demeanor had completely changed when they came back. "Um, thank you for your statement Miss Yu. We shall thoroughly investigate the matter and let you know regarding any developments. Will it be okay if we take statements from any other conscious witnesses who might be awake?"
Yu Chen shrugged and Si Xia spoke, "You should really ask the doctor that." Chen collapsed on a bench as the two police officers went away. "Could you really get her fired if you wanted?" she asked, once Si Xia had sank into the adjoining seat. He chuckled as he tilted his head for a minute. "Probably. Who would want the job of a lowly constable though." he said and Chen let out a tired chuckle. "They do a lot for our country you know." she said just for the sake of saying something.
The doctor came out at that moment and Chen rushed up to her, closely followed by Xia. "How are Sam and Xiao Hai?" Chen immediately asked him. The doctor removed her mask before she said, "Samuel Darcy is pretty stable. We've run some tests and will be able to discharge him should everything come out okay."
"And Xiao Hai?" Chen promoted. "He had lost a lot of blood. If he had been brought in any longer, his life might have been in danger. But luckily, he got here just in time. We've transfused blood and patched up his wounds, and he's out of danger for now." The doctor continued as Chen and Xia let out sighs of relief, "Though he's unconscious now, and we're waiting for him to wake up to run some more tests. We'll be able to tell more then."
Chen nodded as Si Xia spoke, "Can we see them?" The doctor nodded, "You may see Xiao Hai right now, though it won't make much of a difference since he's unconscious. He's been shifted to room 203. The police officers are talking to Samuel Darcy right now. You may see him after they're done. He's in room 205."
The doctor made to move away before she seemed to remember something and turned around. "I would request if you could call both of their families here. We would require their approvals for discharge formalities." she said, looking at Chen and Xia.
"Sam doesn't have any immediate family in the country. I'll take care of his formalities." Yu Chen spoke at the exact moment Si Xia said, "I'll call Xiao Hai's family and let them know." The doctor gave both of them a nod before going away.
Once she was out of sight, Yu Chen began to walk towards the stairs. "Woah! Where do you think you're going?" Si Xia asked, grabbing her arm and stopping her.
"I'm going to see Xiao Hai." Chen replied, turning to look at Xia like he was some kind of an idiot. So Xia pulled her and said, with a frown on his face, "No you're not. You've had a long night. Just sit here, I'll go visit both of them."
Yu Chen folded her arms and jutted out her chin. "Don't think that all these nurses and doctors will stop me from punching some sense into you." she said, looking very much like she was ready to make good on her threat.
Si Xia: "...." Where was his fault in all this.
