Chapter 14 - UH-OH

"You're parents are here,"

Shanara's hand shook when she heard this. She was just telling the Lovelands thay they knew about their family and now her parents are here? For what? I thought the Lovelands doesn't allow family to come because of certain unknown traditions?

I felt the atmosphere become tense and so did everybody. I hope my parents coming here does not mean bad news.

"Our parents doesn't know, so please be cautious." Golden whispered.

"We'll talk about this some other time. We need to. Right now everybody loosen up." Mrs. Loveland exhaled gracefully and held her husband's hand.

Mr. Loveland looked at us and nodded in understanding. So did their children.

Meanwhile me and my siblings looked at each other and gulped in air. Our parents rarely do this kind of things, and whenever they need us they just send someone to inform us, but not come to us directly. I rubbed my hands together and asked the servants to come and get them here. The servant then trodded back inside and a few moments later, my parents emerge in all their grace and walked towards us. Their faces were smiling and therw was no hint of bad news. I almost let out a sigh of thanks.

"Mr. And Mrs Dela Vega," I greeted them as they reached us.

They hugged me and hugged my brothers and sisters. After some time, everybody settled down and I instantly went down to business.

"Mom, dad, you shouldn't be in here, the traditions will be broken," I said worridly. Not really worried at all.

"Oh! Not a problem. Your other mom here told us that you still have four days until the traditional groom and bride ceremony so it's safe!" mom answered beeming. Why is she beaming?

"Oh, we didn't know that," the five of us chorused.

I didn't even have time to ask what kind of traditional ceremony it is, but I didn't care so....

"Well what made you come here though? Is there a problem at home?" Gavin asked.

"Oh no! We just wanted to tell you that your Lolo and Lola (Granda and Grandpa) wants Nicholas to visit the farm. They're pretty upset you didn't tell them personally." mom looked at me pointedly.

"Ugh" I slapped my forehead. " Mom, dad, please don't tell them I forgot, they're gonna annihilate me. I mean not literally but," I pleaded.

"That's what we actually did. We told them that you two were planning to see them soon and-" mom cut dad.

"Aaaand, we'll be the one to pick you up just to be sure. And here we are!" dad clapped his hands.

"Crazy. We didn't really forget. It just didn't came out our heads" Golden laughed. Finally easing up knowing that there's no problem.

"Anyway it's good. You two needs sometime to unwind and this is a beautiful place for that." Viviene let out a chuckle.

"Yeah, it's been some time since we bonded, and we miss it," mom said longingly.

"Well now you had given our thought a chance. A rest at last." Carlisle clasped his hands. "You came to right place"

After a while, we left the parents to Mr and Mrs Lovelands care and we headed on to finish the maze garden. We also learned that mom and dad brought only few trusted maids and private guards with them which sounded good, so as not to overwhelm the vampires with the smell of human blood. Riviere then told us not to worry about the overwhelming smell of blood because they have trained for hundreds of years to control themselves from attacking and that they rarely attack. Their attacks are instinctive and this because Mr Loveland had long developed a vaccine that control their urges for human blood and that they are injected of it occasionally even the servants and the guards.

They also told us that Nicholas' laboratory has been developing a serum that could alter their hunger for blood into a hunger for food.

This then opened a conversation to me and Nicholas as I told him that maybe I could help him with this because she has a knowledge or two about human biology or if not, I would love to be a part of his success.

Nicholas answered with his eyes lighting up but then I could be just imagining things because I heard that vampires has a thing in charms and I could be feeling it now. I feel awfully charmed by what's happening and an "uh-oh" echoed in my brain. It screamed 'This shouldn't be happening!" Bug my heart totally ignored it.

The series of events excited my and frightened me at the same time. I had this inkling that every happiness matches sadness and it scared me.

But the I saw my brothers and sisters laughing and enjoying the moment in this truly marvelous place that my heart ached and wished that I hoped it never have to end. Everything slowed down and all I felt was happiness, seeing my siblings happy made me feel happy. Feeling Nicholas' family warm up to us just made me happy too. And now knowing that they didn't want us any harm at all just made my heart lurch in an unexplainable feeling. It gave me hope that I wish it was all true. I wish they were real when they said all they want is to tie our families together and I hope that there is nothing more. If this wedding would be the reason on seeing my family bonding again, feeling happy again, being with each other again, then I would agree to this marriage gladly. Even if I have to suffer later, I don't care. As long as my family is happy.

I could feel the energy in the air, it was melodious, the birds' sang their most beautiful songs, the butterflies flew around gracefully, the place seemed to be more greener and the skies became so blue. These effects happens when my heart feels so happy it could explode. Everything just seems to be extra than usual and I felt my heart warm up for everyone.. I hope we could be like this always, but my heart told me that was not gonna happen and sometimes life is unfair. I ignored what my heart said and just enjoyed every second seeing happiness in everything. I wanted to indulge myself in occasions like this because I know that its going to last, but at least. I savored some of it.....
