She walked up to Shaoyan, who also had tears in his eyes and hugged him. "I wish I could Shaoyan." she spoke, and Shaoyan deflated even more, if possible. "I really wish I could Shaoyan. But that's just the way my family is. They'll never allow me to go on someone else's money."
Su Shaoyan wiped away the tears that continued to fall for some time as Ying Xuan stared at the scene in front of her, helpless. She would never have proposed the idea if she had known that something like this would happen. She mentally kicked herself for not thinking things through, but it was just that she had been too excited.
"What if we didn't spend much money?" Lu Xuan's voice rung out in the heavy silence.
Three pairs of questioning eyes turned towards her before Weiwei shook her head. "It won't work Zuan. Travelling and accomodation, even the cheapest, would be more than what my family can afford right now."
Lu Zuan shook her head. "I didn't mean that." she continued, "You live in the countryside. Right Weiwei." A very mystified looking Shi Weiwei nodded her confirmation.
"It must be beautiful. With pretty meadows with rivers flowing through them. Historical monuments and trekks..." 'What do you mean Zuan?' her monologue was cut off by Ying Xuan.
"What I mean is. . . . " Lu Zuan took a dramatic pause, "Why don't we visit Weiwei's and neighbouring villages for a vacation."
There was a stunned silence in which the other three mulled over Xuan's idea.
Ying Xuan was the first to sign, 'That's an interesting idea.' 'But not necessarily a bad one.' she added, upon seeing Zuan's face fall.
"I mean, you guys could. It is becoming increasingly common for city folks to try to experience the village life." Shi Weiwei was next, as she released Shaoyan and settled into the chair she had previously vacated.
The three then turned to Shaoyan who said, "That was not the vacation I had in my mind." he continued with a shrug, "But I don't mind where we go. As long as it's with you guys." "All. Of. You." he added with a glare at Weiwei, who put up her hands in surrender.
"Okay then." Lu Zuan said, clapping her hands together in the manner of a tour guide. "It's settled. We can all ask our parents, and if everyone gets an affirmative, Weiwei can plan something out." She got up and stretched when everyone nodded.
"If that's settled, I'll take my leave. I have to get up early tomorrow." Lu Zuan said, already making her way towards the door. "Some family friends we've to go and meet. And apparently they have a son that my mother wants me to meet, so she's taking me to get all dolled up. Anyways, good night people." she added by way of an explanation to her friends as she left.
"I think I'll also go and take a nap. I'll call my parents early tomorrow morning to ask. Does that work?" Shi Weiwei spoke, also getting up. 'Wait! I'll come with you.' Xuan signed, scrambling to get up.
"You're leaving too?" Shaoyan's voice was heard as the two girls made their way towards the door. "I thought maybe we could look for some fashion internships together." he added with a pout as Xuan and Weiwei turned around.
