Chapter 11 - The Peak of the Truth

Miller flew up in the sky with three other knights, making his way towards Inferno. As they grew closer, he could see the enemy charging towards the knights holding them back. They wanted to take back Inferno. He landed behind the castle, where he spotted the opened entrance. When the knights noticed him, they quickly informed him of what was happening. "Sir Miller, the knights outside are charging at us" said a knight. A loud banging noise could be heard behind the palace's huge doors. The guards holding them back; clearly didn't stand a chance against the whole army. Despite the fact that the doors were being held closed by a metal bar, it wasn't strong enough. "Sir, it's only a matter of time before they break in and attack, what do you order us to do?" Everyone looked at Miller and the majority of the knights were near the doors ready for them to burst open, preparing for the attack. "We are to retreat now before they break those doors down and the prisoner is coming with us, there's no need for us to fight" he said in a demanding voice. "What about the prince?" the same knight asked him, "For now, we worry about what's happening now, the prince is missing and we can't look for him here, we don't have that choice anymore" with that he flew away with the knights taking flight as well. As they flew away, he turned and noticed two knights with spears pointing at the king, who's wrist were bounded by enchanted chains that make him weaker and takes away his ability to use his fire powers against them. Angels used these chains to ensure prisoners won't escape. He could fly away, but not when he's surrounded by an entire army of ice angels. He looked behind him and saw the Inferno knights taking flight and following them. They're going to try and rescue the king. "Take care of that!" shouted Miller. A few angels turned around and flew the opposite direction towards the enemy. When the Inferno knights were about to use they're flames on the angels, the angels created a a huge and thick wall of ice between them. The giant wall rose from the ground to the sky. It was far enough in length and width that it was hard for the enemy to go above or beside the wall. Peter could see from the other side of the wall the enemy flying away with their king. They began to use their fire to melt the ice wall, but by the time it melts, they would be long gone.Peter knew this, but he made the effort for his loyalty to the king, and deep down he felt lost. What will come of Inferno without the king, Edana, and Luna missing? It would just be the knights alone. Vincent paced back and forth as he waited for Miller. Moments later they show up with King Brites. Two knights locked him up in a cell and departed as Miller came in. Vincent looked at King Brites from his cell and Miller stood beside him. "Are the knights coming to rescue him?" Vincent asked him, "I'm certain they'll plan to, we took care of them for now" "And now, i'll be taking care of the king" Miller looked at him and nodded before departing. Vincent walked closer to Brite's cell. "Where do you have Edana, Vincent?" Brites asked him firmly. "I think i'll be the one asking the questions, you are the prisoner, after all" he said, grabbing a wooden chair nearby and sitting on it facing the king. Brites just looked back at him showing no emotion. "I see you don't know where Edana is as well? asked Vincent. "Are you saying you didn't capture her?" asked Brites holding the bars from the prison cell with a serious look on his face "We don't have Edana and I'm here to ask you about Lynx" Brites let go of the bars and paced around the cell. "He's disappeared and I think you have something to do with that" said Vincent. Brites looked at him waiting for him to explain. "We both know, about the obsession Lynx had to murder Edana and i think you made sure he's out of the picture in order for you and Edana to be at peace" Brites looked at Vincent dead in the eye with rage in his voice, "I would gladly confess i got rid of him for the torment he causes to my kingdom, I wold say that i killed him without hesitation and i'd tell you the way i did" Vincent stood from his chair and looked at the wall behind him. "Is the thought making you feel uneasy, Vincent?" Vincent turned around and stepped closer to the cell. "Listen, I have no knowledge of Lynx's whereabouts or Edana's, but when i get out of here the first thing I'm going to do is look for her" said Brites. "Why are yo here Vincent? Why aren't I facing Anders and Allura?" "They're dead, Brites" said Vincent. Brites was taken aback. "i see you really need to find the boy to rule Crystella, and i thought my kingdom was corrupted" Vincent felt the fury rising in him. He reached his arms out to Brites between the bars and held his collar and yanked him close to him, "This kingdom is not corrupted, Lynx is the only heir to the throne and he will rule it the same way his father. he cared about this kingdom and its angels and so he did everything he could and sacrificed everything he had to for it" Vincent held his tears back and let go of Brites, stepping back. "Anders wasn't a good king, and you know it, but deep down you try so hard to believe it in order for it to be true" "You have no right to judge Anders" said Vincent. "Oh but i do, after what his bloodline did a very long time ago, breaking our alliance. It really showed us the type of angels your kind really is" "That's enough!" Vincent was annoyed at Brites. He decided to leave, Brites doesn't have the answers he 's looking. "That's all for today Brites" he started walking away. "Walk away like the coward Anders was, he really disappointed his father!" Brites shouted. Vincent stopped in his tracks and remembered what Winters had told him earlier. That Anders had disappointed him greatly. "What is it you know about that?" asked Vincent. "Maybe we can negotiate" he said. "I'm listening" said Vincent. "Set me free Vincent, I'll tell you what you want to know" "How can i know you speak the truth?" asked Vincent. "Because it came straight out of Winters mouth" Vincent knew he was right. Brites doesn't know that it was Winters the one that told Vincent about the disappointment Anders gave him. He knew Brites knew the truth. Anders told everything to Vincent. He was curious to know what his closest friend was hiding from him.
