Chapter 1 - °One•What is going on?°

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

I look around dizzily. I see a woman beside me holding me.

"Doctor! Quick, the patient is losing.."

My head spins as I lose and regain consciousness.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

I turn my head to the other side, I see a man in a white coat yelling atー I'm guessing a few people around.

"You! Get the first aid! You, get the..."

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

Where am I? I don't remember what had happened. Did I get into an accident? The world spins around me as I try hard to open my eyes only to see a burning car which is stuck to a tree.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

"Doctor, we don't have much time, you need to...."

I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. Darkness consumed me as I hear sirens from a distance.

×××

I squirmed around, trying to feel my surrounding before forcing my eyes to open. I hear voices from a distance.

"Have you contacted his family?"

"No doctor. I've tried a few numbers that are related to him, his cousins and one uncle, they either don't answer or hung up when they heard his name."

"What do we do with him now?"

"Take care of him?"

I shook my head. Are they talking about me? I don't want to think about it. I tried to sit up but yelped in pain instead. A sharp, stinging pain shot through my left shoulder and right thigh.

I'm sure they've heard me because they all rushed into the room. One man came beside me to check my pulses and my wounds, making sure I was okay.

"I'm about to ask you a few questions, answer me properly alright?" He said with a question at the end which I nodded to.

"What is your name?" He asked as he flipped a few papers on his clipboard and pulled them back.

"Arran, Arran Frye," I said, my voice hoarse and my throat dry.

"How old are you?" He asked again after nodded at the first question.

"Should be 22 this year," I said after thinking. I never celebrated my birthday because I didn't have anyone to celebrate with.

He nodded and jot down everything. "Do you remember why you're here?" He asked.

I thought for a while, "did I get into an accident?" I asked. He nodded, "into a tree, might I add."

I nodded as well. "Do you have anyone who can take care of the procedure?" he asked. I shook my head, no. He furrowed his eyebrow. He finally sighed.

"Okay, you have to stay in the hospital for a few days and after that, if you're okay, you can go back after payment," he said placing the clipboard with my information at the end of my bed and left.

I looked around. It's a small room with two beds and a bathroom. There is a window on my left. I tried to sit up but it hurts way too much. How did the accident happen? Was I drunk or something? Or did another car hit me and I flew towards the tree?

I shook the thoughts away. Arran, don't think about it. I tried to reach the jar of water on the bedstand on my right. I could barely pick it up. I forced all my energy into pouring myself a cup of water.

My hands started to shake uncontrollably and I quickly put the jar down. I was only able to get myself half cup of water. I sighed again. Wouldn't it be nice if I have someone?

I took the cup and brought it to my mouth. I downed it in one go to quench my thirst. I put the cup down and picked up the jar, trying to pour another cup of water.

"Oh hello! There haven't been any patients accommodating this room, you know," a voice said. I quickly put the jar down. Where is the voice coming from? I looked around and see no one.

"You can hear me? Oh! You can!" the voice said followed by a mischievous laugh.

"I am the guardian spirit of this hospital floor, I get the patient's status and give a gut feeling to the doctors to check them," he said. A man walked out from the side of the room. He was white. All white. He's also wearing a white coat. He's all pure white...

What's going on?

"Oh! Now, now, you must be thinking," he said, "why can I hear you, why can I see you, aren't you supposed to be a spirit?" he continued mockingly.

"Well listen up here, you've been blessed by a spirit to be able to see, well, spirits. No, you can't see ghosts though," he said.

"I see that you've got nobody, I'll heal you up so you can go meet the spirit that blessed you," he paced around.

He doesn't shut up, does he?

"Do you have a na-" I asked but was cut off by him.

"Your looks aren't that bad. Maybe the spirit that blessed you just wanted you all to themselves," he said in a thinking manner. I furrowed my eyebrows. Man, I don't want to be meeting spirits like him.

"Though, I wouldn't truly know if this is a blessing or a curse. The last dude that got blessed by a spirit like this, well I heard he was getting tortured by the spirits and got thrown into a mental asylum for reporting it," he told me seriously.

He walked towards me, placed his hand on my right thigh, and in a few minutes, It was healed. He did the same to my left shoulder.

"There you go! You can go right ahead and make your payment and leave," he said.

I gave him a quick thanks and got up. It didn't feel pain anymore. Well the wound is still there but it's closed and cleaned up and I feel much less pain. I guess it's to make them believe that I'm just a fast healer.

I got out of the room and headed to the elevator. I went to the ground floor and went to the counter. I paid for the treatment. There goes all my hard work.

I turned to leave. The moment I got out of the hospital, I had a huge feeling something bad is about to happen. I pushed the feeling away and walked towards my home.

I walked on the sidewalk, to my left is the road and to my right is a forest.

"Yo look, another man having to travel by walking," I heard a man snickered. I turned around and saw no one.

"Look at his clothes, he should get a new outfit, seriously," another man said. I looked down at my outfit. It's the one I wore before the accident. I do need to get new outfits.

"Yo, you're ugly!" I snapped my head towards that voice. I see two men in between two trees, laughing.

"You're ugly!" I yelled at them, "Both of you are!"

I smirked, they look at me in shock.

"You can see us?" One of them asked.

"You bet I can," I said as my smirk goes wider.

They pulled me into the forest and held me by my collar. "Why can you see us?"

"I was blessed by a spirit, most probably," I replied. They threw me down and one man sat on top of me and punched me on my left cheek.

"You're lying. There hasn't been a blessed human since a few years ago," I winched. Spirits beat hard.

"I'm not, I've really bee-" I got cut off by another punch.

"No one. From the spirit world. Is able to bless a soul. Without getting in trouble. And the bless. Cancels," he said as his voice raised in anger.

Who is my blesser? Why did they bless me and get themselves in trouble?

"Who blessed you?" The other guy asked. I shook my head, "I don't know."

He stared at me, squinting his eyes every second. Just then, a group of spirits came. "Ayo Jay, who this guy," he asked.

No one answered as they see the guy is thinking, "Wait, he human?"

The guy on top of me sighed and glared at me. What did I do now?

"Yea Dean, he human," he said.

"Where did you find him?" The guy, I'm assuming, Dean asked again.

"Sidewalk," the guy, Jay I assume said. The other guy was silent the whole time. He just stares at me.

"Damn, you did good Jay, now we have a new punching bag," Dean said smirking down at me.

"You, cannot use me as a punching bag! You can't!" I yelled from below Jay, squirming, hoping he would set me free.

He laughed, louder each time. "Why can't I?" He laughed one last time and sealed my mouth. He lifted me to a tree and tied me on there.

He reeled his hand back, going in for a punch. I shut my eyes, waiting for the contact but it never came. I opened my eyes slowly and a punch landed on my cheeks.

"What? Did you think this is an anime? Close your eyes and saved by your knight in shining armor? Please," he laughed out. His buddies behind him laughed as well.

"Well, that was about to happen but I was late for a minute I guess," I stern mid-high pitched voice said. All heads snapped towards the person. It's a girl, she has beautiful brunette wavy hair down to her mid-back. Her height is probably about 5'3. Quite petite as well.

As everyone was fazed, she charged in and punched Jay right in his nose. He started to bleed. "Hey, don't forget, I went through hell to come to the human world, so if I were you, I'd be crapping my pants right now," she snickered at how weak he was towards her punch. He staggered back, running into the forest with fire in his eyes. Everyone else just took steps back and disappeared.

The girl walked over to me and snickered, "What a stupid weak human I've blessed."

She then released me from the tree. "Hi, I'm Rhea, Rhea Cardenes. I'm the spirit that blessed you, nice to actually finally meet you," she smiled.
