"I just said so didn't I?" Daiki rolled his eyes at her, "It's not like you didn't have any inkling this was happening anyway, I straight up told you I was next in line to be Hokage."

"I thought you were just talking crap like you always did though, I didn't think you actually meant it!" Tenten blurted, like how the hell was she meant to believe that? "You'd literally just spent half an hour with your head in my lap because of you doing something stupid and getting chakra exhaustion!"

"Stupid…kind of. But, it was a necessary thing I had to do," Daiki shrugged, before smirking that stupid cocky smirk that always both annoyed and thrilled her at the same time, "Speaking of. You're formerly promoted to the Godaime Hokage's personal lap pillow giver."

Wait…wha-

Oh, "You were serious?!" she gaped at him.

"Baby, I'm always serious when it comes to your thighs." Daiki grinned, pushing off the railing and walking over to slip his hands around her waist brazenly, right in front of her team.

"Oh…my!" she saw Lee's eyes widen, and he shimmied with one arm on his crutch, reaching into a pocket to produce that stupid notebook of his, "First hand experience watching the flirtation technique of the Hokage Daiki-kun himself! I must learn!"

"How youthful, I did not know you were in a relationship with Tenten, Daiki-kun!" Gai-sensei beamed, "Such youthful burning flames of romance!"

"We're not!" Tenten denied in annoyance, "Not yet at least!"

"We're getting there, good to know we've got your blessing though Gai." Daiki laughed, pulling one hand off her waist, and turning to face her sensei and teammate, but keeping one around her.

Despite herself, the silliness of him acting the same as always, took some of the trepidation out of the sudden knowledge that he was the Hokage now.

Hokage? Yes? Absurdly powerful? Yes. But still the same old Daiki.

"How could I not? Few can hope to compare to your raging flames of youth Daiki-kun! there could be no better for Tenten!" Gai flashed him a burning thumbs up.

Not that his blessing was needed!

"Oh yes, just what I needed, promotion to be my absurd possible boyfriends personal lap pillow giver," Tenten rolled her eyes, "Forget chunin, clearly that was what I should have been aiming for from the start. The highlight of my career."

"Well, actually on that topic," Daiki side eyed her and gaze her waist a squeeze, before letting go and holding his arm out, and suddenly he was holding two familiar green vests, and found one deposited into her arms, while the other was tossed towards Neji, "Congratulations, I'm promoting you both to Chunin."

Eh?

She looked down at the vest in her arms in disbelief, but Daiki had already turned to face Lee, whom had gained a sad frown at the sight of them, and knowing he was obviously not promoted like them.

Poor Lee.

"Sorry Lee, no promotion for you this time," Daiki said, "If it was just about strength, you're more than ready to be Chunin. In fact, if it was just strength, I'd be looking to promote you three to special jonin. But, until I'm sure I can trust you to lead a team and not abuse the gates like you did, then your promotion will have to be on hold."

"Lee…." Gai placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

The bowl cut haired boy took a deep before, closing his eyes. Before exhaling, and opening his eyes once more, a big blinding grin appearing on his face, "No, I understand. Hokage-sama…no Daiki-kun!" he corrected, "I remember your words to me in the hopsital. You are right, I am not ready mentally to be a chunin. It was not my body that was lacking, but my mind. I will fan the flames of my youthful mentality and become worthy of becoming a chunin!"

"Oh Lee!" Gai burst into tears, weeping loudly and sweeping him up into a massive one armed hug.

"Hokage-sama…are you sure I am deserving of this promotion?" Neji spoke up, staring down at the vest with a frown, "I underestimated the pink haired girl, Sakura in our fight and was made a fool of. And in our own fight, while I obviously I would be no match for you, I still made an even bigger fool and spectacle of myself by allowing myself to be riled by my past."

"Well you've learned for next time not to underestimate anyone, right?" Daiki turned to him, brow raised, "And as for our fight. I intentionally poked at your no no place. Sorry about that, I partially used you to make a spectacle, and to warn the Hyuuga that the Cage Bird Seal crap won't fly in my village. Didn't expect the time table to be sped up, but well, here we are."

Neji's nose wrinkled at the 'no no place' description, but didn't comment on it, "You really are going to get rid of the Cage Bird Seal then?" he asked, looking at him in an almost awed fashion.

"At the very least I'll modify it," Daiki shrugged, "The general premise of the seal, to make sure the Byakugan can't be stolen by nasty buggers like those useless Cloudies is a good idea. But the whole branch family thing and treating you as basically slaves, yeah no. That's gotta go. In fact, I'm planning on adding a seal like that to myself, so that nobody can ever steal my eyes."

Oh right…Daiki had a doujutsu as well didn't he?

"Actually, Daiki-kun, on the topic of the Cloud Village…were you serious?" Gai-sensei stopped weeping over Lee and became serious, "Do you truly wish to reclaim the Bijuu?"

"Yes." Daiki said simply.

And Tenten was surprised as he turned completely serious as he looked towards Gai-sensei, "Our village is actually one of the most ignorant when it comes to the Tailed Beasts," he said, "The Sanbi is my partner. Somebody I trust more than anyone else. Closer than a best friend, more than a brother. He's got my back in ways you wouldn't even begin to understand. And, the rest of the Tailed Beasts are his siblings. So beyond everything else I said in my speech, and I meant every word. Why wouldn't I help him get his siblings back? When it Hashirama's fault in the first place it ended up like this."
