Chapter 7 - The escape

Next thing I knew we were grabbing my things. She had my file in hand and we left. Only not the same way we came. In the bathroom there was a pretty big drain and she lifted it up. Once it was open I noticed stairs and absolutely no water. Which confused me since I just showered. She said not many people knew about this place because not a lot of people can be trusted. There are no cameras through here. So I asked her where did the water go since I just showered in here. She said there is a secondary piece that slides and locks in place. It opens only if and when we open the drain. It prevents water and other things from getting through. It's also why it takes so long to drain. Then she told me that only a few knew about this way. It's for only workers who take special cases like my own. The ones that can prove their loyalty in protecting the children. As we climbed down the stairs she quietly and quickly closed the drain opening. Just as she did we heard a man call out her name. We both stopped mid step. His voice sounded familiar. It was one of the men from ms.b place. The head of the department. We stood frozen in place. I could hear him walking in the room looking for us. He started to slam things and swore a lot. Last thing I heard is don't worry boss I'll find that little bitch and her damn worker to. He stalked out the room slamming the door behind him. We quietly moved through the tunnels not a single word spoken between us. When we reached the end of the tunnel I saw a couple. They were both pretty tall. The lady stood about 5'7 and the man looked like a tower. Maybe about 6'2 give or take. They had an armoured car and had backed up close to the exit. Both of them had guns and what looked like bullet proof vests. My worker just grabbed my hand and pulled me closer. The back doors swung open and I was practically pushed into the doors. She followed quickly behind. When we got into the van I noticed it was completely empty. There was a bunch of ropes, seat belts and a few boxes. The vehicle started to move even before I got my seatbelt on. I ended up falling forward and landed on one of the boxes. Guns and bullets and a bunch of other things came falling out. I think the round things were grenades. Only they didn't look like the ones you see in movies. These were dark. Not black but close enough to it. The pins that would set it off was not round. It was actually thin with only a small rectangle hole at the end with a small string looking thing attached to it. I pulled myself up real quick. My worker helped gather these things and placed them back into the box. Then she said don't worry they work for americans and are here to help. Her entire demeanor was changed. She looked more fearless. She buckled me in and then started to change. She put on a vest, then put on a belt and a bunch of other things. I'm not sure what they were. By the time she was done she looked like some military person. I was sitting there pretty stunned. She just looked at me and said don't worry. Where we are taking you nothing and I mean nothing can harm you. So I asked her, why me? All she said was your family worked for us and the family we are taking you to. They work for us as well. It's why we picked them. They can protect you better than the government. They are your best bet right now. So until this is all over you will be safe and protect.. Bang. A loud crash and we flipped over and over again. Only this time we landed right side up. Next thing I knew she was putting gear on me. Then quickly she laid over me. Probably to protect me. So I took the chance to ask her. How do you know my parents? Do you know where they are? What happened to them? She didn't answer me. She just covered her head and mine. All of a sudden a warm liquid spilled over my shoulder. I looked to see what it was and saw blood. Terrified I tried to shake her off of me. She wouldn't move. Again I began to shake uncontrollably and breathing became difficult. I tried to calm myself by closing my eyes and focusing on my breathing. I knew I couldn't get her off of me. So I just laid there as still as possible. When I saw a man approach us. The back doors were open and that's how they killed her. The man was nearly at the door when he just fell to the ground. A woman approached us and all I could think was that she didn't look like she belonged apart of this. She quickly approached and I heard a humming sound that was so loud I could barely hear what she was saying. Then more men came in and grabbed my things and helped the lady off of me. I grabbed the grenade as fast as I could because I was not sure who they were . Just as I grabbed it they all stopped and looked at me. The lady flashed her badge at me then they all followed. Their badges all looked similar to my biological parents ones. So I grabbed hers and looked at it real closely. I was looking for authenticity. To be honest I wasn't sure what I was looking for. Not really, I just studied it and then realized there's a specific marking. One just like my parents had but a little different. My parents one looked like the number zero and hers looked like a number 1. So I asked why it looked different and she said I'm from a different facility but same company as your parents. Hurry before the rest get here and kill you. We need to get you to safety. She held her hand out to me and for some reason I didn't hesitate. I felt safe with her. I picked up almost all of my things and followed her. One of the men grilled grab the rest of my things. As we got out of the vehicle I heard the same loud noise as before only this time it was followed by heavy winds. I looked over to where it was coming from and I saw a huge helicopter in front of me. The lady told me keep your head down and get in as fast as you can. So I listened to her and once I got in we took off. I didn't even have time to think. I just looked down from the sky and tried to see what was going on down there. I saw my social worker standing up and walking. The other men was helping her get bandaged up. The person that hit us looked lifeless as hm half his body hung out of the windshield. I quickly turned away trying not to see if his body was completely cut in half or not. Shivers ran down my spine from everything I saw. Also a small part of me felt relief as I saw my worker was not dead. She seemed to know these people. Which also made me feel even safer than I already did. Initially I felt safe but weary as I didn't know them. Now that I see she knew these people all my worries disappeared. I just sat there silent for a while as I tried to gather my thoughts and get those images out of my head. Then the lady offered me some water. Before I could even think about answering questions came pouring out of my mouth. Why me? What do these people want. Why are there so many people trying to kill me? Why are there so many willing to die for me? Where are my parents? Are they okay? What's really going on? Why isn't anyone giving me answers? The lady put her hand up to silence and and I began to cry. I seriously have no idea what's going on. All I know is that I've almost died several times in the last month. I've still got zero answers but millions of questions. Then she placed her hand on my shoulder and told me everything will be okay. That was when I really lost control. I began to yell at this point. Everyone keeps telling me everything will be fine. Telling me I'm okay and got nothing to worry about. Yet all these things keep happening and I don't understand why! She just looked at me stunned. I guess she's never been yelled at like that before. I spend myself back once I realized I wasn't going to get any answers from her or anyone else for that matter. Eventually we landed inside a really huge building. Once the engine turned off and he propellers stopped spinning a man appeared before us.
