Chapter 1 - Becoming a Magical Girl!

In a beautiful field, a short black haired high schooler walked to her home. Her name? Dee.

"Finally summer is almost here..." she mumbled to herself with happiness. Smelling the flowers on the field, they were beautiful, and smelled amazing. "All that needs to happen is for me to pick up my brother. Go back home, and then sleep-"

She suddenly fell down to the ground when she stepped on something sharp.

"Ow!"

She looked down to see what caused her to fall, it wasn't a rock, or a twig, not even her own shoelaces, but it was a necklace. The jewelry had a pink stone inside of it, as it laid on the ground, it started to glow faintly.

When she got back to her feet, she picked it up to take a closer look at it. "Pretty..." She said, looking around to see if anyone has lost it.

But when she saw nobody around, she put the necklace into her bag before going back to walking to her home.

Up in the sky, a tiny blue creature flew around the city, frantically looking around the sky, panicking.

"Oh no. No. No. No! This cannot be happening!"

After arriving home, Dee sat down onto her bed, putting her bag down, and taking the necklace she found earlier out.

"I wonder who lost you."

Suddenly, the creature appeared in front of her.

"Hello there! That's mine," they pointed at the necklace. "Please. Give it back."

Dee screamed in fear. "What the heck?! What are you?!"

"Look... That's not important, can I just have that back? It was not meant for you-" They tried to say, but they got cut off.

"No way! I found it first. It's mine now." Dee countered, holding the necklace close to herself.

"No. It's not. Give. It. Back-"

The creature tried to take the necklace away again. But Dee just slapped them away. Which caused them to start arguing with each other.

"I already said that it's mine."

"No, it really isn't!"

"But I found it first!"

The creature sighed. "Fine! Keep it. I just hope you're not evil. And that you're ready to-"

"Me? Evil? No. I would never. In fact, I couldn't even harm a fly!" Dee explained smugly. "But what's your name? Since you're gonna be my magical mascot now." She joked, with a smirk on her face.

The creature puffed out its tiny chest, looking offended. "My name is Ursa, the Keeper of the stars and Helper of Galaxies! I am not a mascot, a toy, or a glitter-bug!'"

They flew towards Dee with a forced smile, brushing dust off their tiny wings. Meanwhile, the girl was already poking the necklace, watching it glow.

"Seriously, don't play with that," Ursa warned. "It contains a very powerful-"

"Magical core? Forbidden soul of an ancient demon?" Dee questioned, jumping off from her bed.

"No. It's a gem," Ursa quickly corrected the black haired girl, looking at her like she was just a dumb human. "It is a very powerful artifact! Passed down through generations of-"

Dee just nodded, blinking in confusion. "Uh-huh..."

A moment of silence passed between them. Dee began to put the jewelry around her neck while side-eyeing Ursa.

"So what now? You zap me? Steal it back when I sleep? Summon a space council of glittery weirdos to scold me?"

"No, actually. You were not meant to have it, but since you touched it, I can't do anything unless you give it back." Ursa explained, shaking her head.

"Like... I'm bound to it?"

Ursa nodded. And they tried to be happy. "Yup! You're a magical girl now!" They threw some confetti at Dee.

"Where did you even pull that out from?.."

It was Ursa's turn to look smug. "There are questions you don't want answers to!"

"Okay... weird..." Dee murmured under her breath. "So, how do I transform? Since you're stuck with me now, glitter bug. You better get used to me."

"This is a cosmic-level disaster," Ursa shook her head again. "I was supposed to find the true 'Guardian of Fairies and Balance'... You were supposed to... I don't know, walk past it or something!"

"I guess the universe has taste," Dee sang, leaning close to Ursa's face. "Or you just have very bad luck."

"I don't believe in bad luck..."

One of Dee's eyes twitched, and she sighed. "Anyways... How do I start glowing? Summon armor? Ride a space unicorn? Or use a magical blast?" she asked Ursa, genuinely starting to be interested in things.

Ursa shook their head, and crossed their tiny arms. "You're not supposed to summon anything yet."

"Like an... awakening ritual? So dramatic. I'm here for it. Can I wear eyeliner and scream into space when I'm mad?" the girl asked the little magical creature.

"You... might. If you don't fall into a black hole first. Which is always a fun gamble. You see, us magical users can survive it, and-" Ursa was cut off by the necklace, which began to glow. It caused Dee to start flying up in the room.

"What's it doing?!"

"It's responding to you. That's not supposed to happen this fast. It should have taken at least one day!" Ursa started panicking again. "This is bad! A disaster!"

A burst of light appeared around Dee. She spun around in the air, her civilian clothes disappeared in a flash of black and white energy.

Her hair flew up, and when the glow faded, she no longer had her normal clothes. Her hair was now red, she was wearing a light purple top, with a short, darker purple skirt, and her left leg had knee high black sock, on her right leg, was a white sock, with small wings on her back.

"I look good," Dee said, looking at herself. "Wonder what weapon arsenal I have."

"Well... It seems like you're officially the Guardian of Fairies and the Balance! This is-"

"'In the name of above-average GPA, I'll defeat you!'" she posed dramatically, while holding up her arms like she's doing magic.

Ursa was not impressed by their new 'protégé'. "Stop that."

"Never...." Dee smirked like a little gremlin. "Also, my name is too long... I wanna change it! Maybe to-"

"First off, you will have to save the Spherin Dimension!" Ursa cut her off. "And Earth, and our ruler, Queen Xenia!" she explained happily.

Dee showed a dumb face, cocking her head to the left, really confused at what the creature just said.

"Yup! She's our queen!" Ursa was genuinely happy while talking about this. "She's very gorgeous!"

Dee froze for a bit. "Uhm... is it a bad time to say that I don't want the job anymore?"

"Well, that's too bad. You can't back out now." Ursa giggled evilly. "You brought this upon yourself, girl!" They floated up happily, their little wings fluttering in affection.

"Okay... No. No. Nope. I'm just a high schooler! I just wanted to nap for 12 hours and maybe rewatch some anime that I love!" Dee flopped back down onto her bed.

"That life of yours is over. From now on, you're bound by cosmic contract, locked in magical duty." Ursa was a tiny bit glad that this human girl can't back out of the job.

"So basically... I'm just gonna have to be a magical girl? Forever?"

"Exactly! See? You are catching on. So smart for a human being!" Ursa cheered.

Dee started pacing around her room, the magical girl outfit flickering slightly with stardust particles. "Okay. At least I'm not having a panic attack. At least... Are my future enemies weak?.."

"Well... truth be told. I don't know..." Ursa said, scratching the back of their head. "But one very powerful villain broke out of his cosmic cell!"

"Oh my gosh... Can I at least get a weapon?" Dee asked, overwhelmed.

Ursa sighed. "Sure. Channel your will into the necklace and think of your inner strength."

"Inner strength, inner strength..." Dee muttered. "I once carried three bottles of soda home without a bag. Does that count as inner strength?" The necklace glowed. A shimmering beam appeared in her hand. "Why... Do I have a spork?"

"It's... a multi-dimensional utensil. It can be used for many things in where I'm from!" Ursa clapped their hands together. "Just channel enough energy and it becomes a blade... hopefully..."

Dee looked at the utensil in shock, glaring angrily at Ursa. "'Probably'?! I have to fight a villain using only a spork?!"

"It reflects your spirit! It's very... you." The little magical friend cringed.

"And I bet you have a plush toy as your weapon." Dee pointed the spork at Ursa.

"No? I have a crossbow!" Ursa said as they took out a small crossbow.

"Why can't I have one?!" the ravenette whined, and sat back down her bed.

"Because you can't yet. Now let's go!" Ursa tried flying out the window, not realizing it's closed, which caused their body to hit the window.

Dee immediately bursted out with laughter. "To where? There is no enemy around!"

"Oh." Ursa floated down to the bed in Dee's room. "Then we can just watch a movie?"

"I guess?.. Okay. I take back everything I said about you. You're cool. I like you."

"You never said anything about me-" Ursa gasped in realization. "You were thinking bad stuff about me! We just met!"

"I know. I'm sorry. You were really annoying, and I didn't wanna hurt your feelings." Dee explained, holding up her hands to defend herself.

"Well... You... You're... You're just a human!" Ursa tried to find a way to insult the human.

"You have managed to just insulted 8 Billion people."

"But you insulted me first!"

"I know. But I can- Oh well… Let's just watch something." Dee said, and pulled out a bag of chips from nowhere.

"A movie! Yes! I love human made movies! But where did you get those?" Ursa gestured at the chips.

"I hid my food and snacks from my siblings everywhere around the house, this one was behind my pillow." Dee explained, while also taking out a DVD set from her bedside table. "And this is: Peak. Television."

"'Pink Catgirl Magical Princess Adventures,'" Ursa read the label, and immediately looked unimpressed. "Are you serious?"

"Don't judge it! You haven't seen it yet! It's from the early two thousands! They had some crazy names back then!" Dee jumped down to her bed, and turned on the TV. "By the way... How do I get back to normal?"

Ursa smiled, and flew to Dee's stomach, and ate some of the chips. "Oh, you just have to focus really well. And you're back to being a regular human girl!" They pause for the dramatic effect. "Or if you're bored, just say the de-transformation quote. 'I wanna rest!'"

Dee nodded. "I wanna rest." She turned back to her normal clothes without even getting up from the bed. "Awesome!"

Outside, up on a building, a figure of a man laughed darkly.

"This shall bring me so much fun..." the figure snapped their fingers, summoning some shadow monsters. "To that floating creature, do whatever you want, but I'll need that human girl alive."
