Chapter 12 - Visiting the Winter Jasmine

She thought to herself as she withdrew her fingers.

And then she saw, at the knuckle of her index finger, a deep purple mark had appeared.

If you looked closely, the mark resembled a tiny seedling, trembling as it bore two little tender buds—it looked utterly adorable.

She turned her gaze away and looked at the plant.

For some reason, after the contract, the vine seemed completely wilted, lying limply along the edge of the flowerpot.

It looked as if it had no energy at all.

Be it high-tier animals or plants, as long as they formed a contract with a human, they could sense emotions and become attuned to their master's heart.

Yet the thing in front of her didn't seem like a high-tier plant no matter how she looked at it.

Could it be that it was just too young and needed some proper nurturing??

As she thought this, the vine in the pot seemed to sense what was on her mind and began quivering slightly.

It seemed as though it was agreeing with her, asking to be well taken care of.

Su Ye paused for three seconds as she watched this scene.

Soon she got up, picked up the pot, and walked outside.

Su Ye walked all the way to the back garden, where she planted the vine.

Raising it along with the most delicate and valuable flowers in the garden—surely it would thrive, wouldn't it?

Most importantly, looking at this ugly little thing in her flowerpot, perhaps if she raised it together with the dainty blossoms, it might turn out better looking.

After putting the plant in the back garden, she hardly paid it any mind.

Once Su Ruoruo left, Su Ye's anxious heart finally settled down.

At last, she had the energy to wander around.

After all, the original owner had stirred up so much trouble. From now on, she'd be living under this identity; she needed to know exactly what kind of atrocious things the original owner had done.

Early in the morning, Su Ye got dressed, gathering her smooth hair into a bun at the nape of her neck with a hairpin.

Xing was already waiting quietly at her side.

As soon as Su Ye finished getting ready, Xing beamed and spoke up cheerfully,

"Miss, Madam has agreed to sell that male prostitute to us. Congratulations—another pet boy added to your collection."

Hearing Xing's flattering words, Su Ye felt vaguely uncomfortable.

Su Ye gazed at the radiant, bright-toothed girl in the mirror, muttering sluggishly,

"Spring-Welcoming House..."

An hour later, Su Ye stood before the gates of the Spring-Welcoming House, hands clasped behind her back, clad in white robes.

She lifted her head, taking in the large signboard, where a giant red peony hung, flamboyant and seductive.

The busiest brothel in all of Xuan Yue City operated right here.

Now, with the sun drifting west, the sky had already taken on the hues of dusk.

Crimson clouds bathed the horizon in evening glory.

This was the two-hour when Spring-Welcoming House began its nightly business.

The girls of the Spring-Welcoming House, draped in sheer fabrics, their faces dabbed with fragrant rouge, clutched silk handkerchiefs as they lured in customers.

"Oh my, sir, what took you so long?"

"Jiao Jiao's heart literally aches from missing you."

"Sir, is your wife settled down at last? Don't let her come here and make a scene again."

Amid cooing voices, women clung to the arms of pot-bellied men, giggling as they headed into the Spring-Welcoming House.

Before long, Madam at the door recognized Su Ye at a glance.

Madam wore a red peony in her hair, and though she was past forty, her charm still lingered on.

When her eyes fell on Su Ye, they instantly sparkled,

"Young City Lord, so you finally came today."

As she spoke, Madam playfully tapped Su Ye's shoulder with her handkerchief, smiling all the while.

In others' eyes, Su Ye was arrogant and domineering—a real piece of work.

But in Madam's eyes, Su Ye was an absolute treasure.

She was lavish with money; every time she visited, her tips alone matched half a month's takings for the Spring-Welcoming House.
