Chapter 11 - The Contract With a Vine

Just because of this, she got roasted by male fans one after another.

There was one comment she remembered most clearly—

[The male lead's face is so feminine, I can accept that. Author, you've got some balls, writing the plot conflicts so shockingly well.

But damn, after all these years of reading, I've never seen a male lead who's as pure as Liu Xiahui, sitting in a woman's lap and not budging.

Even by the grand finale, they barely held hands a few times.

Author, you're an idiot. What the hell kind of male lead did you write for me??

What a waste of these beautiful women. Did someone chop off the guy's thing or what??!! Huh?!!]

This comment got tens of thousands of likes and sat pinned right at the top, thanks to all the hype in the thread.

And the highest-liked reply under it said—

[Probably, the dumbass author ate it herself.]

Being a female author writing in the male genre, "life is hard" just about sums it up.

At that time, seeing these guys egging each other on, Su Ye felt like someone had forced her to swallow a mouthful of crap.

Su Ye shook her head, holding onto the wall, and stepped towards her own courtyard.

Anyway, now that Su Ruoruo had left Xuan Yue City, she should be safe.

The methods were a bit rough, but at least her life was saved.

Su Ye's heart—which had been banging around from meeting Su Qing—finally calmed down.

She got back to her courtyard and plopped right down on the chaise beneath the corridor.

As the dark night settled in, she looked up at the stars and moon above.

Her calves dangled, swinging half-heartedly.

The maids in the back courtyard always came in groups whenever they showed up.

She was busy with serious business and didn't want to be interrupted, so she shooed them all out, ordering them not to come in.

So, the huge courtyard was left with only her in it.

Swinging her legs, enjoying this rare bit of downtime.

After sending Su Ruoruo off, looking at the sun, moon, and stars again, Su Ye actually started to really like the world she'd written.

Yeah, as long as Su Qing didn't come to mess with her, even this pitch-black night felt full of sunshine. In her good mood, her legs swung even harder, all "yo-ho, yo-ho."

But as she swung, she suddenly paused—her calf seemed tangled up by something.

She looked down and saw a tender, pale green vine, thinner than her pinky finger.

She reached out, about to casually pull it off.

But as soon as she touched it, the vine wrapped around her finger like it was tying a knot.

Following the vine, her gaze landed on a flowerpot.

In that flowerpot was a seed she'd raised for years, which had never bloomed and for all she knew, had suddenly sprouted.

And it'd grown such a long vine.

She reached out, poking at the fragile little leaves.

The seedling in the flowerpot was terribly delicate.

But… after looking for ages, she still couldn't figure out what kind of plant this was.

A vine?

In her novel, Su Ye did NOT have any habit of growing flowers or plants.

Just as she was thinking that, her fingertip suddenly stung—the vine wrapped tight around her finger, leaving a bloody mark.

A cut opened up and blood beaded out.

Drip—landing right on the vine.

In an instant, a flash of purple light zipped over the vine.

Su Ye felt a hot, sharp pain at the knuckle of her index finger.

Seeing this, her eyelid twitched.

A contract?

This vine had just made a contract with her?

In this world, high-tier animals and plants could all cultivate, and could even form contracts with humans to fight side by side.

But most contracts were with high-tier animals; contracts with plants were rare as hell.
