(Michelle Lui's POV)
The moment we stepped out of the mirror maze, I felt like I'd just escaped a psychological battlefield. The cool air hit my cheeks, the sky deepening into dusky violet, amusement park lights glowing brighter against the falling night.
I inhaled deeply.
Freedom.
Blessed, holy freedom.
Behind me, Lara limped out dramatically. "I swear one of my reflections was trying to take over my body."
Vince stumbled out next, clutching his chest. "I saw a version of myself that was HOT. I was intimidated."
Kate pinched the bridge of her nose. "We're breaking up in every timeline."
Jeff followed them calmly, despite looking like he aged ten years inside the maze. "I think I walked through the same corridor eleven times."
Meanwhile—
I stood slightly apart, trying not to think about the maze.
Or the fact that I had clung to Steven like gravity didn't exist.
Or the way he had pulled me against him like it was instinct, not decision.
