The moment we stepped out of the elevator and into the party hall on the 40th floor, I finally understood why Andy insisted we "pace ourselves" earlier.
This wasn't a small gathering.
This wasn't even a medium gathering.
This was—
A full-blown, high-profile, neon-lit HALLOWEEN EVENT.
The entire function hall was transformed: chandeliers dimmed to a moody amber, LED spotlights shifting between violet and deep blue, artificial fog curling at our feet, a full DJ booth pulsing with bass.
Hundreds of costumed guests milled about, laughing, drinking, dancing.
And the moment the nine of us entered…
People turned.
Not subtly.
Not politely.
FULL. BODY. TURN.
Some gasped.
Some whispered.
Some stared too long.
A few guys outright choked on their drinks.
I tugged self-consciously on my constellation witch cape, suddenly aware of how sparkly it was under the lights.
"Wow," Vince murmured. "We could start a religion right now."
