By the time we finished restyling in the girls' suite, the entire room looked like a fantasy dressing chamber—glitter-dusted counters, ribbons scattered everywhere, curling irons humming, perfume in the air, Kate's hair tools lined with military precision, and Lara yelling at her fox tail extensions like they insulted her entire lineage.
Jasmine twirled in front of the mirror for the eighth time.
"Is my halo straight?"
Kate didn't even look up.
"It's fine, you look like the Christmas section at a mall. Move."
Lara barked a laugh.
"You mean an expensive mall."
I sat quietly at my corner vanity, applying the last tiny silver star sticker near the edge of my eye.
One more on the cheekbone.
A little shimmer on the collarbones.
And then… the cape.
The upgraded constellation cape shimmered under the soft lights—dark galaxy fabric with scattered silver thread that glinted with my movements.
It slid over my shoulders like liquid night.
