(Michelle Lui's POV)
The Mercedes was already waiting by the shaded carpark, polished black exterior reflecting the campus trees like liquid glass.
My driver stood beside the back door the moment he spotted me.
"Good afternoon, Miss Michelle," he greeted with his warm, familiar smile.
The comfort of it settled into my bones.
"Afternoon" I replied, slipping into the cool interior seats.
The leather still held that faint new-car scent that made me feel a little too spoiled. But this was the life I grew up in — chauffeurs, secure parking, quiet rides home. Not private-jet-rich like the Sy family, but… close enough to never worry about anything.
As the car started moving, my phone buzzed in my hand.
One new notification.
Steven:
Did you get home safe?
Home? Not yet.
Safe? Physically yes. Emotionally? Absolutely not. I was still floating.
I typed back:
Me:
About to reach. You?
His response came so fast I blinked.
Steven:
Still in class. Almost done.
