The night stretched long, filled with breathy moans, soft laughter, and whispered promises. By the time dawn threatened the horizon, the air was heavy with the scent of sweat, the rustle of silk, and something far deeper.
As she lay wrapped in his arms, her head resting on his chest, Chu Yue'er smiled lazily.
"So... when will you come to kidnap me?" She murmured, tracing idle patterns on his skin.
Jun Mo Xie smirked, his fingers brushing her hair.
"Who says I haven't already?"
She laughed softly, burying her face against him, knowing full well—there was no escape now, nor did she want one.
Jun Mo Xie lingered for another hour, thoroughly indulging in Chu Yue'er's soft whispers and intoxicating touch. The room smelled of sandalwood and something much sweeter—the lingering satisfaction of two people tangled in a forbidden romance.
Only then did Jun Mo Xie finally rise, gently brushing aside Chu Yue'er's messy locks to plant a soft kiss on her forehead.
"Leaving so soon?" She teased, her voice a sultry murmur, eyes half-lidded with satisfaction. "Can't you stay a bit longer?"
Jun Mo Xie chuckled, straightening his robe. "Tempting, but if I stay longer, I may never leave. And besides… there's a certain old man waiting to nag me at home."
Chu Yue'er stretched lazily, entirely unbothered. "Tell him you've already been captured by a wicked woman. Maybe he'll forgive you."
He laughed lightly, shaking his head. "He will definitely break my legs."
With that, he vanished as quietly as he had arrived—like a whisper, a passing wind, leaving behind nothing but the faint warmth still clinging to the bed and the glowing smile on Chu Yue'er's face.
It was barely morning when Jun Mo Xie strolled back through the gates of the Jun Family residence, hands tucked leisurely behind his back, whistling a light tune.
But before he even had the chance to step properly into the courtyard, a sharp voice boomed out like thunder.
"Jun Mo Xie! You unfilial brat, where the hell were you last night?!"
Jun Mo Xie winced internally.
Damn… already caught.
Before he could think of an excuse, the towering figure of Grandpa Jun stomped out from the inner hall, his face dark, his beard practically quivering with righteous anger.
"Spirit Fog Lake again, weren't you?! I asked the guards—none of them saw you come back last night!" Grandpa Jun's voice cracked like a whip. "You've got no sense of propriety! Always fooling around in brothels, wasting your days! You're the heir of the Jun Family, not some shameless drunkard!"
Jun Mo Xie tried to keep a straight face, lowering his head respectfully. "Grandpa, it's not what you think—"
Before he could finish, the old man grabbed the wooden staff resting beside the door, brandishing it like a weapon. "Don't you 'Grandpa' me, boy! Every time it's the same excuse! See if I don't knock some sense into that useless head of yours today!"
With that, he swung.
Jun Mo Xie danced back, light on his feet, grinning shamelessly as he dodged left and right. "Grandpa, Grandpaaa! Violence isn't the answer! I was just out for a walk—getting fresh air—Ah, not the staff again—!"
"Fresh air, my ass! Fresh air doesn't reek of wine and powder!" Grandpa Jun hollered, chasing after him like an angry tiger.
For the next few minutes, the Jun Family residence looked more like a chaotic battlefield, with servants quietly retreating out of sight, pretending they couldn't hear the thwacks and curses filling the air.
Finally, after Grandpa Jun huffed and puffed enough, he leaned heavily on his staff, glaring at his unrepentant grandson, who rubbed his head with a sheepish grin.
"You keep this up," The old man grumbled, breathing hard, "and no decent girl will ever want to marry you! Just see if I don't drag you personally to the palace and offer you up as a eunuch!"
Jun Mo Xie's grin twitched.
If only you knew... not only do I already have more than one decent girl, but each and every one of them would happily keep me chained to her bed…
But of course, now was not the time to say that.
So he bowed deeply, straight-faced. "Understood, Grandpa. I'll reflect deeply."
"Humph!" Grandpa Jun snorted, eyeing him suspiciously before finally turning away. "Go reflect until you cough up blood! Next time, I'll have the guards tie you up if you sneak out again!"
Jun Mo Xie laughed silently to himself as the old man disappeared inside, knowing full well this was just another usual morning in the Jun household.
After surviving the barrage of scolding and narrowly escaping more bruises, Jun Mo Xie wandered lazily toward the main street. The morning sun had climbed higher, its golden rays casting a pleasant glow over the bustling city.
And sure enough, as if summoned by fate, a familiar round figure came waddling down the road.
Tang Yuan—Fatty Tang—waved excitedly upon spotting Jun Mo Xie, his chubby cheeks jiggling with each step. He had been waiting a long time for him.
"Is it tomorrow?" Jun Mo Xie crossed his legs as he sat down on a chair and asked.
"Yes, tomorrow!" Tang Yuan nodded like a rooster on the way to the butcher's. Although his eyes still reflected a slight trace of hope in them. "Third young master, my brother, I'm relying on you here."
Then the fat man moved closer to Jun Mo Xie and hugged him!
"Fatty, don't make me vomit, okay? If you do as I say, you will be fine." Jun Mo Xie hadn't been able to comfort Tang Yuan these past few days, and as a result, the Fat man's hands and feet had been trembling with fear the entire time.
The Eunuch Old Zhu, was definitely going to be very thorough with his investigation and would go far beyond checking just the Xuan Qi of the applicants. In fact, given his disposition, it was evident that he'd play by the rules, and was highly unlikely to favor anyone without merit. Moreover, he'd execute the process very meticulously.
No matter what task His Majesty asked Old Zhu to carry out, the Emperor would always carry a sense of trust that the task would be carried out to the letter.
In addition to being very meticulous and precise with his work and responsibilities, Old Zhu had another rather strange habit: An extreme obsession with cleanliness.
Obsession with cleanliness isn't a problem in its own, and many people are cleanliness-oriented. The habit of keeping their environment neat and clean isn't an issue when it comes to normal people, but the Eunuch, Old Zhu's obsession was way over the top.
He would bathe twice each day, regardless of the season; even excess workload couldn't deter him from taking two baths a day. After each wash, he'd change his clothes right down to his undergarments.
Even if someone touched a tree on the road, Old Zhu would refrain from coming in direct contact with the man for fear of catching an illness; even His Majesty couldn't help feeling a bit strange about Old Zhu's obsession with cleanliness.
It is said that even when His Majesty offers Old Zhu a seat to sit on, the Eunuch first takes out his towel to wipe the chair, and only then does he sit on it
