Chapter 59 - Chapter 59:The phantom city

When he turned back, Oberion saw a shadow shaped like a human figure with two horns on its head. The sight startled him and prevented him from sleeping. Rising from his half-sleep, he felt something stir deep within his mind because of that shadowy figure. Then, suddenly, it vanished.

After that, they moved toward the second trap. As they went, Ken asked, "What does the book say about the second trap?" Ken opened the book and found the word shadow written. Below it were strange notes: "Nothing here is real." They couldn't understand its meaning.

Hurrying forward, they saw a small town. As they entered, the streets were empty and lifeless. In the distance, a large mansion appeared. When they stepped inside, they saw something resembling a shadow. Oberion looked closely but realized it wasn't the same shadow they had seen before. He concluded, "This is not the shadow we encountered earlier. This is something else." Suddenly, the mansion disappeared, and when they stepped outside, the entire town was gone.

Only then did Ken realize, by reading the book, that he hadn't looked at one side of it. On that side, it was written: "The place you are in now will appear like a city. But once you enter, it will vanish. You are trapped inside a cave of illusion. It is not a city, but a phantom cave. Here, only shadows exist. Light is present, but apart from your own shadow, you cannot see anything else."

Ken exclaimed to Lorentz, "You should have told us earlier! You dragged us into this trap. That's why I gave you the book to read!"

Harold asked, "Is there no way to escape?" Ken replied, "No. The book mentions no way out." Lorentz said, "Look carefully. Sometimes what is written is hidden." But Ken insisted, "I checked thoroughly. Nothing is written about escaping. Only traps are mentioned."

Lorentz sighed, "Then we are truly trapped. How do we escape?" Harold said, "There is no other way. We must find our own path out."

They searched around the cave, but saw nothing except their shadows. Suddenly, Lorentz picked up a stone and hurled it upward. The stone vanished. He kept throwing stones one after another. Harold wondered what to do.

Bimbeesan said, "In this darkness, how can we escape? We see nothing but shadows and light." At that moment, Harold had an idea. He took a cloth he had, lit it with the lighter they carried on their horse, and created fire. The light spread throughout the cave.

As they explored with the torch, they discovered a massive stone door. Harold placed the torch near a small hole beneath the shadow. The stone began to move, revealing a hidden passage. The phantom city dissolved, and they escaped outside.

As they continued toward the next trap, Bimbeesan asked Harold, "How did you get that idea?" Harold replied, "We were all trapped in darkness. When a man is surrounded by darkness, he cannot simply remain still. He must strive toward light. In that darkness, I found a way through fire. Life is the same—when our lives are dark, we must ignite a flame to find the path to victory."

Hearing this, Rudra and the others admired Harold's wisdom.

Later, as they moved toward the next destination, Ken was reading the book. Suddenly, something fell from it—a peacock feather. It looked unusual, but Ken didn't notice. The feather dropped to the ground, ignored.
