Chapter 5 - 04 The Old Guy, Blessed Girl and A Doting Father

The days of this world were divided as back on earth each week containing seven days only name differently earthday, fireday, windday, waterday, thunderday, iceday and darkday I was pretty simple, so I didn't mind it at all. I woke up on early on earthday of my fifth year today marks start of my first school life I will be attending to local school of the village at first I was against math, history, basic magic and swordplay I was already capable of this to pretty adept level I preferred to spend my time learning on my own and about topics that I would find more useful my father readily agree saying ¨Our Revan is pretty much a genius what use will there be to send him with a bunch brats I will personally teach the ways of the sword and you Celia can teach him magic math he can already do.¨ but my mother angrily replied ¨What are you saying you know it's important for him to socialize with other kids He has been hold up in the manor far to long even if his studies are already quite advance his socials skills are not besides his been trying to use magic for quite a while now and he has not been able to make progress in that area so perhaps some change environment will be beneficial for him.¨ to which my father hastily replied ¨But Celia my love its far to early for him to be using magic you know that been mage yourself that he is able to detect mana particles this early on is unheard of as far as I know¨. my mother was right I had been studying magic from my mother books mana in this world work in a curious way mana is all around us but mana itself divides itself in the different elements many theories have been written as of why mana behaves like this and not like a single entity some say mana particles are created from the gods auras themselves others say that each of the elements leave echoes behind for example if there was great snowstorm when reaching its end it would leave a great quantity of ice mana particles yet I find hard to believe that true because I have also read that ice and thunder mana particles are actually quite fewer when compare to prime elements like fire , wind , earth and water but that is subjects best left to the scholars to use magic first you must go through a process called the awakening not all people of Valentia are capable of using magic its said that 2 out 10 children can awaken in this world there what scholars refer or as the magic gate is not an actual organ but spiritual one a magic gate has two doors one located on our back responsible for absorbing mana and another at our chest for expelling there's also the core which stores mana particles a core will store mana and regulate the amount of mana it houses expelling the rest through the gate as a child grow it core will grow to be able to hold more mana and around age of ten the core will go through the awakening which consists of basically a big overlord which send mana throughout the body creating paths for mana to travel enabling the user to direct mana as the spell requires however even if an awakening occurs controlling mana is still hard so each year there is an event that is called the gathering in which all awaken children will be taken to the temples of their respective gods it said that in this time all gods will converge on a castle on sky and judge all awaken children and bless does who they deem worthy after that god that blessed you will determine the kind of magic you would be able to use however the information on this is quite vague. What are the criteria the gods use to determine the worthy from the unworthy? Does a god grant the ability to use a certain element or do they only decide to bless does who have already a certain affinity with their elements? I have found no information regarding this and I'm quite curious I have never lay eyes on the goddess of the Heim empire so I'm curious about her what kind personality does she have, how much power does she command. As I ask myself all this questions the discussion about school ended with my father unsightly defeat… So here I am getting ready to depart my home to head into the village. As I walked out of the house with my father I could feel the chilly wind hit my face we walk a few steps when my father spoke ¨Well Revan today is the start of new cycle in your life you might be genius but that no excuse you for you to be arrogant so I expect you to be humble to your other classmates and help them were you can I believe that is the responsibility of the strong so if you want to truly be strong be sure to never look down on others just because you might be little better than them now ¨ said my father. of course I wouldn't be arrogant for the meager knowledge or of my beginner skills I have acquire but my father seem to think that I had come far enough on this five years for me to do so however there is wisdom in his words so I responded ¨Of course father I would do my best to continue improving so that I might become truly strong¨ at my words he smiled back at me ¨that's my boy¨. We continue walking for about half an hour and we arrived at the village plaza there we found a group about thirty children with their parents gathered as we joined in an old man approach us. ¨If it isn't Kevin Astley!¨the old man said ¨Hey Artras it's been long time I haven't seen you since you retire from the army I thought where living on the outskirts of the city away from the front lines¨ said Kevin with smile ¨It really has been long time about 5 years to think you were just recruit when I left and now your the renowned Ice Fang recognize by her divine majesty herself¨ smiled Artras as he gaze landed on the little Revan who was beside his father Kevin ¨Oh is that your boy so his entering school this year as well¨ his gaze was locked on the young Revan as if analyzing him from toe to head until he seem to remember something ¨Oh were are my manners my name is Artras I'm the former commander of the Wolf Knights and was your father superior back in the day¨ smiled Artras. As Revan was gazing at Artras he could see a man with great skilled he was tall man with long white hair and green eyes they say he was old but his physical condition doesn't seem to be deteriorated in the least he wasn't a muscular man like my father but he stand with poise that left no opening that could be used to attack him as Revan thought about this a hand landed on his head ¨Don't be shy Revan introduce yourself¨ said Kevin ¨It´s an honor to meet you lord Artras my name is Revan Astley¨ as Revan greeted him he bowed before the retire knight ¨Oh what well-mannered boy are you sure his yours Kevin to think you could produce such a fine young lad is doubtful to say the least¨ said Artras with a amuse look on his face ¨Of course he is! My pride and joy the looks and skills of his father plus grace of his mother. I have no doubt he will have to fight all the ladies of this village soon enough! He said while he laughed very loudly and some other kids and parents turn to look our way ¨Father stop that people are looking at us¨ said Revan shyly ¨Stop it Kevin your embarrassing the boy and myself while were at it when are you gonna come out to introduce yourself Lyndis¨ as he said that a small girl approach us ¨it's a pleasure to meet you my name Lyndis Alfield¨ she had hair that fell all the way around the middle of her back with a beautiful blue color and deep blue eyes but what impressed Revan the most was the powerful magic aura that emanated from the girl he paled at the sight of her deep blue eyes locking onto him ¨What is wrong Revan?¨ask Kevin with worried look on his face. Revan still dumbfounded by the girl strong magical presence responded ¨she has a very strong magic aura emanating from her body¨ at his response Artras eyes open wide with shock ¨you can sense mana at your young age boy? I'm impress indeed my little Lyndis here is very compatible with ice magic enough that even her grace lady Morana has already granted her with her blessing¨ On lyndis hip was a small emblem with gold circular lair and light blue background with a gold character for ice. So this is how the blessing of a god looks like Revan thought ¨Grandfather that was supposes to be secret you know¨ said Lyndis reproaching his decision to share the fact she was already bless. ¨Oh I thought my Revan would one of kind genius of this village generation but it seems I was mistaken¨ said an amuse Kevin ¨As expected of my little Lyndis¨ said Artras nodding excitingly ¨Grandfather please stop that your embarrassing me I may have gotten my blessing but I am just beginner¨ said Lyndis with a flustered voice ¨Well to be able to use magic at our age and have already a blessing is pretty incredible if you ask me¨ said Revan. Lyndis stare at Revan dumbfounded her face beginning to blush slightly at Revan's sudden praise ¨You're not scare or jealous because you can't use it¨ asked Lyndis ¨Well honestly I might be a little jealous after all you succeed in something I have wanted to achieve this past year but not In a bad way a think your amazing! I hope we can be friends¨ said Revan a little embarrass by his words ¨Tch! I'm going ahead inside grandfather¨ said Lyndis in a loud voice as she walk at fast pace to the school building. ¨Did I say something wrong? ¨ said Revan looking with a confused face to his father. But before Kevin could reply Artras suddenly lifted Revan up and place him on his shoulder. ¨You boy! I like you very much don't misunderstand my little Lyndis she has had a difficult childhood for her abilities and doesn´t have any friend aside from her brother and this old fossil. Adults avoid her because of her great mana quantities and children her age are just jealous of her early awakening so she has been really lonely to the point she began to try to hide her abilities I believe you the first one to praise her so earnestly. ¨ Artras laugh happily as he twirled around with Revan still in his shoulders ¨Sir!... I am gonna fall I´m gonna fall! ¨ yelled a panicked Revan. His father just watched kindly at the image of his son and former boss and teacher. After a while Artras left Revan down said ¨Please be a good friend to my Lyndis and support each other. School is a battleground of its own and can be very cruel to does who are alone. But even a single good friend can make all the difference¨ said Artras who had kneeled to be at eyed level with Revan. ¨ Don't worry about that gramps I intended to be on good terms with her since the beginning I am sure there is a lot I can learn from her¨ said Revan ¨Well I be heading inside myself I don't want to be late for the first day of school¨ said the boy as he headed running into school building. The two men watch as Revan back disappear in the influx of children heading for the building ¨You have good kid Kevin I can tell he is very capable¨ said Artras ¨Yeah he is, I expect great things in the future from him and who knows maybe your granddaughter and my boy will hit off and will become family in the future¨ Kevin said teasingly ¨Tch, Now now I like the boy but I don't like him that much¨ yell Artras. ¨Jokes aside your boy has quite tonified body have you already begin training him? ¨ asked Artras ¨Yeah he kind of began training on his own a last year so I figured if he was going to do it by himself I might as well begin to set him in the proper path but his growing as swordsman at a terrifying speed he has already master all beginner level techniques honestly he kind of scares when he enters his battle mind set you can really feel a really the killing intent he releases but I suppose that's how things are I can only hope to guide him to use those feeling the correct way¨ said Kevin. Artras looked at Kevin for a moment as if considering something. And after few moments he spoke again ¨Say Kevin how about you let me teach your boy the Heavenly Blade Style I have no nephew or sons to pass my Title of Divine Blade and your son does show promise although I will teste him myself¨ said Artras with a smirk in his face ¨You would really do that if im not mistaken there only other three Divine Blades are you sure you don't want to wait maybe you daughter will still give you a grandson soon enough¨ said Kevin ¨No if its my duty train the next Divine Blade of Frost and I'm not getting any younger my successor must begin training now Lyndis has express her desire to succeed the title but I think your boy might actually have what it takes to keep it ¨ said Artras. A long sighed came from Kevin ¨You just want to make them compete, don't you?!¨ ¨Well a little healthy competition might do them some good and even if Lyndis were to come out with the title your boy would still have come out stronger for it¨ said Artras ¨Then I'll leave my boy training in you care¨ said as Kevin as he bow deeply to Artras.
