Chapter 1 - 1. Gluttony System

"Alan! Wake up!"

A cool touch on his forehead.

A young girl's voice beside him.

It brought him out of his slumber.

A concerned face met his gaze.

The girl in an apron, holding a wet towel, wiped his sweat.

"Sister..." the boy said unconsciously.

"Huh?" the girl looked surprised. "You kid! Don't you usually just call me by my name? You're so polite all of a sudden! It feels weird!"

The boy pursed his lips and avoided Kelly's gaze.

To be precise, he wasn't Kelly's brother, Alan Panthers, but a soul traveler from Earth.

When Alan was in a coma and near death, the traveler's spirit took over his body, merging with the original owner's memories and revealing that he lived in a fantasy world of swords and sorcery.

"As soon as I came upstairs, I saw you sleeping on the floor, sweating profusely and looking awful. What's wrong?" your sister asked.

"A little dizzy, but I'm feeling much better now."

"Did you eat something unclean?"

"No..." The boy suddenly remembered something. "I went to the circus this afternoon and ate some candy the clown gave me. On the way back, I felt dizzy."

In Allen's original memory, besides feeling dizzy, he also felt weak and breathless. He insisted on climbing the stairs, only to faint on the floor.

Judging from the symptoms, it was most likely poisoning.

"I told you not to eat anything you want! You idiot! Sooner or later, your gluttony will kill you!"

Kelly scolded her brother, wringing out the wet towel and wiping his face. She didn't let him down until his complexion improved.

"I have to go downstairs to help in the kitchen. You rest for a while. If you're okay, come down for dinner."

"Okay."

Watching his sister go downstairs, the boy pulled a candy wrapper from his pocket, opened it, and carefully fanned it toward him, letting the air flow carry the lingering candy scent towards him.

He first caught a whiff of a faint sweet fragrance.

Then, a strange beep suddenly filled his mind!

"Beep!"

"Level 2 toxin detected!"

"Insufficient sample, unable to identify!"

What's going on?!

Alan was startled and looked around warily.

There were no computers, cell phones, or other devices capable of producing electronically synthesized sounds nearby. Besides, in this fantasy world of swords and sorcery, such sophisticated instruments shouldn't even exist.

So, the question was, what the hell was that beeping sound just now echoing in his mind?! As if in response to his question, a glowing screen slowly unfolded before him, resembling the interface of a VR game. Several lines of text appeared on it.

After calming his excitement slightly, Allen was immediately drawn to the text.

Gluttony System

As Allen read, a flood of information flooded his mind, all of which were the Gluttony System's interpretations of each piece of data.

The Gluttony System seemed like a special device bound to his soul. Its most important function was to digitize his own status, much like a character in a game.

For example, the "Attributes" data is a comprehensive score of physical and mental strength.

The reference standard is adult humans in this world, with an average Attribute of 10 points in each.

The original owner of this body, Alan Panthers, was only twelve years old, but his physique and agility were higher than most adults, likely due to his unique bloodline.

Spiritual attributes are a comprehensive reflection of factors such as intelligence, perception, character, and willpower.

18 points in spiritual attributes is almost the upper limit of what an ordinary human can achieve!

Alan's spiritual attributes weren't originally that high, mainly because he had merged with the soul of an adult from another world, which was equivalent to an extra life.

There's another statistic called "Potential," which currently has 0 points, and its use is unknown.

As for the "Poisoned" state...

Alan tried to recall the memories of this body.

Today was Sunday, and he and a group of classmates had gone to see a circus performance on the outskirts of the city that afternoon.

The circus ticket seller said that customers under sixteen could enter a drawing when buying tickets.

Alan won the third prize, a beautifully wrapped lollipop.

At the time, he felt lucky, enjoying the sweet lollipop while watching the circus.

However, after eating the lollipop, he felt dizzy for some reason and couldn't stop yawning.

Feeling unwell, he hurriedly left the circus.

He struggled back home and collapsed to the floor, unable to wake up.

According to the "Gluttony System" prompt, the so-called "draw" was just a cover to deliver drugged candy to children.

This suggests that the circus was likely also a child abduction operation. Fortunately, he escaped in time!

Before crossing over, Alan had undergone general anesthesia and signed a risk disclosure form.

Of course, I know that improper use of anesthetics can have fatal consequences!

Thinking of this, Alan couldn't help but feel a pang of dread.

This near-abduction experience was a blessing in disguise for him.

Not only had he awakened the "Gluttony System," he also gained a special ability called "Virus Resistance."

As the name suggests, it's resistance to harmful substances like germs and toxins.

Alan now has Level 1 Virus Resistance, making him immune to Level 1 viruses and even more resistant to higher-level viruses.

Furthermore, the system thoughtfully offered this tip:

Exposure to various viruses can increase your resistance, and when it accumulates to a certain level, your resistance level will increase!

"Wow! Isn't this just like accumulating experience points to level up in a game?"

Alan rubbed his hands excitedly.

Suddenly, a thought occurred to him, and he hurried to the mirror.

The mirror reflected a young man with beautiful short flaxen hair.

His face, still childish, had regained its color.

The original owner of this body was young, yet had grown rapidly.

At only twelve, he was already 1.75 meters tall.

His muscular build, thick eyebrows, and broad eyes, all exuded the aura of a newborn calf fearless of a tiger.

Or, to put it more bluntly, he didn't look very bright...

That was better.

The corners of the boy's lips curled slightly in the mirror.

As a time traveler, he appreciated the illusion created by this body; it could make people let down their guard.

To be a qualified old bitch, the prerequisite was to not let others overestimate your intelligence.

Seeing this honest and simple face, no one could have guessed that he possessed a spiritual attribute of 18 points.

Within the body of this simple boy lay the soul of an adult from another world.

More importantly, the mirror didn't reflect the system interface!

Alan breathed a sigh of relief.

As he had expected, no one except himself was aware of the existence of the "Gluttony System."

At this moment, from the dining room downstairs came the energetic shouts of his sister Kelly.

"Alan! If you don't come downstairs for dinner, I'll beat you up!"
