At that moment, Lexie could not convince herself that Isiah was speaking to her. She assumed he was addressing someone else in the room. When his voice had echoed down the hall, she flinched, yet she kept walking as if nothing had happened.
Isiah turned and moved toward her, pursuing her outside the chamber as she attempted to flee the building entirely.
Lexie knew that remaining near the group would only bring her agony. Staring at Yogev while he still drew breath was twisting her mind, especially since Isiah had forbidden her from striking him down. To her, leaving her family unavenged while their killer stood feet away was completely unacceptable.
She did not even realize Isiah was following her until he caught up. Dragging his injured body forward, his slow steps eventually brought him to her side. Before she could react, he slammed her back against the corridor wall, unadulterated fury written across his features.
