Arya sniffed the air and almost sneezed. The air was filled with some kind of plant her daddy used when mommy wasn't feeling well. The castle was slightly better than riding in the carriage, but Arya had finally run out of exciting things to discover. Or rather, she had remembered that her mother was ill. She asked Marietta to visit her mother, and here she sat, hoping that holding her mother's hand would somehow wake her up.
"Mommy, wake up." Her eyes looked pleadingly at her mother's still figure.
Arya squeezed her mother's hand, but she didn't stir at all. A sniff echoed across the room and hot tears formed at the corner of her eyes. The door clicked open behind her, and she rushed to wipe away the newly formed tears on the sleeves of her dress.
"So, this is where you ran off to little Arya. Would you mind if I visited your mother with you?" Queen Annalise asked while smoothing down the young girl's hair.
