Their quarters were silent. They contained a tinge of loneliness that seemed to come alive with the growing darkness of twilight. Rui had been living their alone ever since Amare entered isolated training and his daughter departed to do what needed to be done.
Ria's departure had been especially lonely to him. But he drowned himself in his next favorite thing: training, to keep himself busy. She was already eighteen, and she had made up her mind about where and how she wanted to live, so there was nothing that he could do about it beyond living how he used to before he had a family.
His attention returned to Amare, who didn't ask him a question about Ria. Not because she didn't care, but because she knew the answers.
