Lucas Quinn didn't know when he had fallen asleep. When he awoke, the sky was already bright, as the morning sunlight peeked through the gaps in the curtains.
He instinctively looked to his side but didn't see Charlotte Allison. He quickly got out of bed to find her first.
Going downstairs, he found her in the kitchen with Ms. Bert making soy milk, not using a machine, but with a small stone mill and other tools Ms. Bert had brought back a few days before, preparing it the traditional way. The soy milk made this way was very fragrant, and any excess would be used to make tofu.
Seeing him appear in the kitchen in pajamas with disheveled hair, Charlotte smiled at him, "Awake? Go brush your teeth, wash your face, and change your clothes for breakfast. Caroline and the others will be here for breakfast in ten minutes."
