The hallway leading to Room 417 was unnaturally quiet.
Scarlett walked beside Ezra slowly, her nerves tightening with every step across the expensive carpet. The note from breakfast sat folded inside Ezra's pocket like a silent warning.
"You still think this is a trap?" Scarlett asked quietly.
Ezra glanced once down the corridor before answering. "I think someone wants us to see something."
"That's not comforting."
"It's not meant to be."
They stopped in front of the suite.
Room 417.
Ezra's expression sharpened instantly. He scanned the hallway one final time before subtly moving Scarlett slightly behind him.
She noticed immediately. "You know I hate when you do that."
"And I know you'll survive it."
Scarlett rolled her eyes softly despite the tension.
Ezra knocked once.
No answer.
Then slowly…
The door unlocked from inside.
Scarlett instinctively held her breath.
The suite door opened only halfway at first.
And there she was.
The woman from last night.
