Chapter 31 Encirclement and Kill
The moment the Seventh Prince landed on the city wall, the entire city of Jubei fell silent.
He stood there, his moon-white robes fluttering gently in the wind, his inner energy circulating and emitting a faint glow. Tens of thousands of Di soldiers retreated like a tide, not daring to look back.
On the city wall, the surviving soldiers stared blankly at that figure, then one by one, a dark mass of kneeling soldiers knelt down.
"Long live Your Highness!"
"Long live Your Highness!!"
Shouts rose and fell, some weeping with joy, others prostrating themselves in grief.
Li Jinshui did not kneel.
He stood in the crowd, looking at that figure standing tall against the wind, his hands slowly clenching.
It wasn't disrespect, but the upward ambition was too strong.
One day, he too would stand there.
The Seventh Prince seemed to sense something, his gaze sweeping over them again, landing on Li Jinshui.
This time, there was a hint of amusement in his eyes.
But he said nothing, only turning his gaze back to the fleeing Di soldiers in the distance.
"Zhao Zheng."
"Here!" Zhao Zheng struggled to his feet, covered in blood, but his face was full of excitement.
The Seventh Prince pointed to the several black dots frantically fleeing in the distance—those were the four surviving Di people at the Meridian Opening Realm, desperately trying to escape north.
"They took forbidden drugs; they can't go far. I'll be right back."
Before he finished speaking, he lightly tapped his foot, transforming into a streak of white light, soaring straight into the sky.
The speed was so fast that it was invisible to the naked eye, leaving only a faint afterimage on the horizon.
Li Jinshui squinted, watching the white light recede into the distance.
Forbidden drugs?
Forbidden drugs that could make a Meridian Opening Realm cultivator escape from a Kaiyuan Realm cultivator—what kind of price would that be?
He didn't know.
But he knew that those four people probably wouldn't survive until today.
The Seventh Prince's speed was as fast as lightning.
Although the four Di people at the Meridian Opening Realm had taken forbidden drugs, burning their blood and qi for a temporary speed boost, it was still futile against a Kaiyuan Realm cultivator.
The first one was caught.
The Di person, who had reached the Meridian Opening Realm, glanced back, his face filled with despair, and then desperately slashed out with his sword.
The Seventh Prince didn't even draw his sword, but simply struck out with his palm.
His true energy surged forth, transforming into a gigantic hand that slammed down from the sky!
"Boom!"
The Di man didn't even have time to scream before he was smashed into a cloud of blood mist, scattering from the heavens.
Next was the second man,
who was frantically fleeing. After taking the forbidden drug, he was like a burning meteor, his speed astonishing. But just as he crossed a mountain ridge, he saw a moon-white figure standing not far ahead, hands behind his back, waiting for him.
"You—"
The Di man's pupils constricted sharply. Without time to turn, he desperately slashed out with his sword!
The sword energy crisscrossed, splitting mountains and shattering rocks!
The Seventh Prince didn't even raise an eyelid.
He simply raised his right hand, his five fingers loosely clenched, and lightly grasped the incoming sword energy.
"Bang!"
The incomparably sharp sword energy was actually crushed by his bare hand, turning into specks of light and dissipating.
Despair flashed across the Di man's face as he turned to flee.
But the Seventh Prince was faster.
He pointed his fingers like a knife and casually swung them at the man's back.
A white light shot out, so fast that even the afterimage was invisible!
"Pfft!"
The Di man's body, at the Meridian Opening Realm, was severed in two at the waist, blood and internal organs splattered everywhere, the two severed corpses falling from mid-air and crashing onto the rocks, a bloody mess.
The Seventh Prince didn't even glance at them, his figure flashing as he continued chasing the third one.
The third one had fled even further, already approaching the edge of the mountain range a hundred miles away.
He turned back and saw the Seventh Prince chasing after him, a look of madness flashing across his face. He bit his tongue hard, spitting out another mouthful of blood essence, pushing the power of the forbidden drug to its limit, his speed increasing again!
But the Seventh Prince was even faster.
The distance between the two was shrinking at a terrifying speed.
Three hundred feet.
Two hundred feet.
One hundred feet.
Fifty feet.
The Di man at the Meridian Opening Realm was in despair.
He suddenly turned around, gripped his knife with both hands, and with all his might, slashed out!
This strike, imbued with all the power he had gained by burning his life force,
transformed into a crimson streak several meters long, slashing towards the Seventh Prince with earth-shattering might!
The Seventh Prince still didn't draw his sword.
He simply extended his right hand, index and middle fingers together, and gently touched the crimson sword energy.
"Buzz—!"
A white light, only as thick as a finger, shot out from his fingertip, colliding with the crimson sword energy!
There was no earth-shattering explosion.
The white light, like a red-hot iron needle piercing butter, silently penetrated the crimson sword energy, and then—
"Boom!"
The crimson sword energy exploded in mid-air, turning into a cloud of blood mist!
The white light continued its momentum, instantly piercing the forehead of the Di man at the Meridian Opening Realm!
The man's expression froze, his eyes wide, his lips slightly parted, as if he wanted to say something.
But he could no longer speak.
The corpse fell from mid-air, crashing into the forest below, crushing a swathe of trees.
The Seventh Prince withdrew his hand, not even glancing back, and turned to chase after the last one.
The fourth had fled the furthest, already crossing the mountain range and about to enter the territory of the Di Kingdom.
The Seventh Prince narrowed his eyes, his true energy surging wildly, and his speed increased dramatically once more!
He transformed into a streak of light, skimming along the mountain peaks, the peaks beneath his feet rushing past.
Almost there.
Almost there.
In thirty more breaths, he would catch up.
But just as he swept across a mountain pass—
the hairs on his body suddenly stood on end!
Something was wrong!
Three concealed auras flashed past from the mountain pass below!
Opening Yuan Realm!
Three of them!
And they had been lying in ambush, their auras suppressed to an extremely low level, only releasing themselves when he entered their attack range!
The Seventh Prince's pupils contracted sharply, but he didn't stop; instead, he accelerated forward!
He was going to break out of the encirclement!
But the three figures moved even faster—
"Boom!"
From the left, a black figure soared into the sky, its sinister aura like a venomous snake's tongue, striking his left rib with a palm!
"Hehehe, Seventh Prince, we've been waiting for you!"
From the right, a blood-red figure burst forth from behind the rocks, a bloody aura filling the air, striking his right shoulder with a palm!
Directly in front, a burly figure, as imposing as an iron tower, shattered the rocks, leaping into the air, a giant axe larger than a man cleaving down!
Three Opening Yuan Realm cultivators attacked simultaneously from three directions, sealing off all his escape routes!
The Seventh Prince had nowhere to dodge.
He took a deep breath, instantly pushing his true energy to its limit, his protective true energy solidifying into a layer of pale golden light.
At the same time, he finally drew his sword!
"Clang—!"
It was a long, snow-white sword; the moment it was drawn, the temperature within a hundred feet plummeted, the air seemingly freezing.
He slashed at the giant axe directly in front of him, simultaneously twisting his body, his left palm meeting the black palm shadow, while his right shoulder took the blood-red palm print head-on!
"Clang—!!!"
Blade and axe clashed, sparks flew, and a violent shockwave swept outwards! Huyan
Lie was forced back three steps, the rocks beneath his feet shattering!
The Seventh Prince also took half a step back, a sweet taste rising in his throat, forcibly swallowing the blood that surged up.
But in that instant, the palm shadow of Night Owl Elder and the palm print of Blood Butcher Elder simultaneously struck him!
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
His protective true energy violently vibrated, almost shattering! Two sinister and ruthless forces penetrated his body, frantically destroying his meridians!
The Seventh Prince groaned, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
But using the force of these two palms, his speed surged, instantly breaking out of the encirclement and landing on a boulder thirty feet away.
He turned around, his gaze sweeping over the three figures.
On the left, a gaunt old man in black, hunched over, with eyes as sinister as an eagle, cackled. His palms gleamed with a dark light, clearly indicating he practiced some kind of insidious martial art. This was
the Night Owl Elder,
a renowned rogue cultivator within the Great Zhou Dynasty, a mid-stage Kaiyuan Realm expert who had once been honored by the royal family and enjoyed countless resources.
Now, he appeared here.
On the right, an old man draped in a blood-red robe, his face withered like a dried corpse, his eyes bloodshot, and a strong, pungent aura of blood emanating from him. His palms were stained with blood—not someone else's, but his own—his cultivation technique required the activation of his own life essence. This was
the Blood God Cult Elder, the Blood Butcher Elder, a mid-stage Kaiyuan Realm expert.
Directly in front, a giant nearly ten feet tall stood, shirtless, his muscles bulging like the roots of an old tree, wielding a massive axe taller than a man, its blade still dripping blood. He exuded a ferocious aura, like a humanoid beast.
The Di army commander, Huyan Lie, a late-stage Kaiyuan Realm expert and a fierce general of the Di Kingdom.
Three Kaiyuan Realm experts formed a triangle around him.
The Seventh Prince looked at the three faces and suddenly laughed.
The smile was chilling, yet his eyes burned with raging fury.
"Interesting," he said, each word distinct. "A wandering cultivator, a Di Kingdom commander, and a remnant of a heretical cult. You three have teamed up to tell me that someone in my Great Zhou royal family is colluding with the enemy?"
The Old Man Night Owl chuckled, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth: "The Seventh Prince is clever. Unfortunately, clever people often die quickly."
Huyan Lie, too lazy to waste words, swung his giant axe, his voice booming: "Kill!"
"Boom!"
Three figures pounced simultaneously!

Chapter 32 The Seventh Prince is Dying
A cold glint flashed in the Seventh Prince's eyes, and instead of retreating, he advanced!
He took a step forward, his figure transforming into a streak of light, heading straight for Huyan Lie!
Huyan Lie's giant axe cleaved down, splitting mountains and shattering rocks! The Seventh Prince
dodged to the side, the giant axe grazing his shoulder and striking the boulder behind him. The boulder, a full three zhang high, was cleaved in two by the axe and collapsed with a crash! At that very instant, the Seventh Prince's blade arrived! The blade flashed like snow, aimed directly at Huyan Lie's throat! Huyan Lie's pupils contracted slightly, his giant axe sweeping back, colliding with the blade! "Clang—!!!" Sparks flew, and shockwaves surged! Using the force of this attack, the Seventh Prince spun rapidly, his left palm striking the Night Owl Elder who was attacking from the side! The palm wind was like a blade, transforming into dozens of sharp energies, enveloping the Night Owl Elder's entire body! Old Man Night Owl's expression changed. He dared not take the blow head-on and retreated hastily, simultaneously striking with both palms. Dark light flashed as the energy clashed with the other forces, creating a series of explosions! Just as the Seventh Prince was about to give chase, a strong, pungent smell of blood emanated from behind— Old Man Blood Butcher had arrived! Without turning his head , he swung his blade in a backhand strike! The blade light transformed into an arc, sweeping behind him! Old Man Blood Butcher sneered, unleashing both palms simultaneously, their blood-red light blazing as he met the blow head-on! "Swoosh—!" The sound of a blade slicing into flesh! Two deep, bone-revealing wounds were slashed into Old Man Blood Butcher's palms, and blood gushed out! But instead of retreating, he used this opportunity to strike the Seventh Prince in the back! "Bang!" His protective inner energy violently vibrated, and the Seventh Prince groaned, spitting out a mouthful of blood! Using the force of this strike, he leaped forward, instantly creating distance between himself and the three! In just three breaths, after exchanging more than ten blows, he had already suffered internal injuries. Of the three opponents, only Blood Butcher Elder suffered minor injuries; Huyan Lie and Night Owl Elder were unharmed. This was the predicament of being surrounded by three experts of the same level—he could injure one, but he couldn't dodge the attacks of the other two.
Huyan Lie grinned, "The Great Zhou royal family is nothing special."
Night Owl Elder chimed in sinisterly, "Seventh Prince, today is your death day."
Blood Butcher Elder licked the blood from his hands, his crimson eyes filled with madness, "His blood, I want it."
The three pounced again!
This time, their coordination was even more seamless.
Huyan Lie launched a frontal assault, his giant axe cleaving, hacking, sweeping, and slashing, each strike possessing the power to split mountains, forcing the Seventh Prince to confront him head-on.
Night Owl Elder flanked from the side, his palms flashing with dark light, each move insidious, targeting the Seventh Prince's weaknesses.
Blood Butcher Elder lurked behind, waiting for his chance, the air thick with the scent of blood, each strike a deadly blow.
The Seventh Prince, fighting three against one, retreated step by step.
His swordsmanship was unparalleled, his blade flashing, forcing Huyan Lie to refrain from pressing too hard.
His movements were lightning fast, dodging Night Owl Elder's sneak attacks several times.
His protective inner energy was formidable, withstanding three blows from the Blood Butcher Elder. Though he coughed up blood, he hadn't collapsed.
But he knew that if things continued this way, he would surely die.
He had to break this deadlock!
A resolute glint flashed in his eyes, and his left hand reached into his robes, pulling out a fist-sized black sphere.
The Heaven-Shaking Thunder!
A royal treasure, capable of killing an early-stage Kaiyuan Realm cultivator and severely injuring a mid-stage Kaiyuan Realm cultivator.
This was his life-saving item, something he would never use unless absolutely necessary.
But now, it was a last resort.
He hurled the Heaven-Shaking Thunder at Huyan Lie, who was directly in front of him!
Huyan Lie's expression changed drastically. He swung his giant axe, trying to cleave the black sphere in two!
But just as the giant axe touched the Heaven-Shaking Thunder—
"BOOM—!!!"
A deafening explosion!
A violent shockwave swept outwards, instantly turning the rocks and trees within a hundred feet radius into dust!
Huyan Lie was blasted backwards, his body a bloody mess, a huge, deep wound on his chest exposing the bone!
Blood Butcher was closer and was also affected by the shockwave; half of his body was blown apart, and he fell with a scream!
Night Owl was the furthest away. Seeing the situation was bad, he turned to run away, but he was still hit by the shockwave and spat out a mouthful of blood!
The Seventh Prince himself was also struck by the impact, his body wracked with pain, blood flowing from his seven orifices.
But he didn't stop.
He bit his tongue, spitting a mouthful of blood onto the blade, his aura instantly surging!
Royal Secret Technique - Blood Burning!
The price was immense, costing ten years of lifespan and leaving him severely injured afterward.
But at this moment, he couldn't care less!
He slashed at the falling Blood Butcher!
The Blood Butcher desperately tried to dodge, but with half his body gone, he couldn't escape!
"Pfft!"
The blade pierced his skull, splitting him in two!
The Seventh Prince didn't look back, turning to lunge at Huyan Lie!
Huyan Lie struggled to his feet, his giant axe slipping from his grasp, his hands empty, his eyes filled with terror!
"You—"
The Seventh Prince didn't give him a chance to speak.
The blade flashed like lightning, aimed straight for Huyan Lie's heart!
Huyan Lie desperately struck out with his palm!
As the blade pierced his chest, his palm struck the Seventh Prince's shoulder!
"Crack!"
The shoulder bone shattered!
The Seventh Prince was sent flying backward, spitting out blood!
But he stared intently at Huyan Lie, seeing the burly figure sway before collapsing to the ground, his fate unknown.
The Night Owl Elder had already escaped a hundred feet away.
The Seventh Prince wanted to give chase, but the moment he moved, everything went black.
No.
His injuries were too severe.
He glanced at the direction the Night Owl Elder had fled, then at the fallen Huyan Lie, and gritted his teeth.
He couldn't chase.
If he did, he would be the one to die.
He turned and ran.
Using the last of the power of the Blood Burning Secret Technique, he transformed into a streak of light and sped south!
Behind him, the Night Owl Elder fled without looking back, only daring to glance back after flying a hundred miles away.
That one glance chilled him to the bone.
Three Opening Yuan Realm cultivators ambushed one, resulting in one death, one severe injury, and himself crippled.
The person who had fought his way out of the bloodbath was simply inhuman.
He shuddered and desperately fled into the distance.
When the Seventh Prince landed on the city wall of Jubei, he was barely recognizable as a human.
His moon-white robe was soaked in blood, turning dark red. A huge gash ran diagonally from his left shoulder to his right waist, the flesh torn open, revealing the ribs underneath—some broken, the white stumps stark against the skin. His right shoulder was caved in, his shoulder blade shattered into several pieces. His face was covered in blood, which was still seeping from his seven orifices.
As he landed, his legs gave way, and he knelt directly on the city wall.
Zhao Zheng rushed forward and caught him, crying, "Your Highness! Your Highness!"
The Seventh Prince tried to say something, but instead of speaking, he spat out a mouthful of black blood, spraying it all over Zhao Zheng.
"Your Highness!!"
The Seventh Prince struggled to pull a jade pendant from his robes and shoved it into Zhao Zheng's hand.
The jade pendant was covered in blood and cracked, seemingly about to shatter at any moment.
"The capital..." His voice was weak, like a candle flickering in the wind, broken and intermittent, "Send the message... back... Someone... is colluding with the enemy..."
After saying this, he closed his eyes and fainted.
Zhao Zheng held him, trembling all over.
On the city wall, everyone knelt down.
Li Jinshui stood not far away, watching this scene, his heart feeling as if it were being squeezed tightly.
The invincible figure who had just stood in mid-air, commanding the slaughter of those at the Meridian Opening Realm, was now like a broken fallen leaf.
He lowered his head, looking at his hands.
In the distance, in the direction where the Night Owl Elder had fled, a faint streak of light disappeared on the horizon.
In the Di army camp, the fallen, burly figure was desperately snatched back by the Di people.
This battle was over.
But everyone knew—
a greater storm had just begun.

Chapter 33 The Regular Army Arrives
Two days.
For two whole days, Jubei City did not receive another attack from the Di people, but instead received another army.
On the morning of the third day, a dark army appeared on the southern horizon.
Fifty thousand soldiers.
Banners blotted out the sun, armored soldiers stood like a forest, and the sound of horses' hooves shook the earth.
On the city walls, the surviving defenders huddled behind the battlements, watching the magnificent army slowly approach, their eyes filled with complex emotions—excitement, anticipation, and a hint of unspeakable unease.
It was the army of the capital. The most elite border troops of the Great Zhou
Dynasty
, well-equipped and highly trained, every soldier at least at the fifth level of Body Tempering. Leading them were more than ten generals, each with a powerful aura, the weakest being at the late stage of Inner Strength.
But what truly made their hearts tremble were the five figures at the very front.
A formidable aura! Five cultivators
at the Meridian Opening Realm. Leading them was a woman in her early thirties, dressed in a purple palace gown, her hair piled high in a bun, her skin as white as snow, her features exquisitely beautiful. She was extremely beautiful, but her eyes were as cold as winter ice, her gaze sweeping over the blood-soaked guards on the city wall with undisguised disgust. She raised her hand, covering her mouth and nose with a silk handkerchief, as if the air itself reeked. "This is Jubei City?" Her voice was clear and cold, neither loud nor soft, yet every word pierced everyone's ears clearly. "A stench of blood, utterly filthy." Following her were four men of varying ages, the youngest in his late twenties, the oldest in his early forties. Each was dressed in fine clothes, their aura restrained, yet their haughty demeanor was impossible to conceal. One of the middle-aged men stepped forward, his gaze sweeping across the city wall before landing on the wounded Zhao Zheng. "So you are Zhao Zheng? The Commander of Jubei City?" Zhao Zheng clasped his hands in a respectful bow. "That is indeed this humble general. May I ask who you gentlemen are—" The middle-aged man waved his hand, interrupting him. "Guests under His Highness the Seventh Prince. This is Miss Yun Ruoxi. She is the leader among the five of us." Yun Ruoxi. The woman in purple didn't even lift her eyelids, but simply wiped her fingers lightly with a silk handkerchief, as if she had just gotten something dirty on them.
The middle-aged man continued, "From now on, all military affairs within the city will be decided by the five of us. Commander Zhao, you may go back and rest."
Zhao Zheng was stunned.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but saw another young retainer behind the middle-aged man step forward, looking at him with a half-smile.
"Commander Zhao, please."
This was not a discussion, but an order.
Zhao Zheng was silent for a moment, then nodded and turned to walk down the city wall.
After taking a few steps, he looked back at Li Jinshui, his eyes filled with a complex meaning—helplessness, apology, and a little worry.
Li Jinshui watched his back disappear below the city wall, a strange feeling suddenly welling up in his heart.
The commander was under house arrest.
The other members of the personal guard battalion were also taken away, said to "cooperate with the investigation."
He stood there, looking at the five high-ranking figures, motionless.
Yun Ruoxi finally moved her gaze from the silk handkerchief and glanced at the guards on the city wall.
That gaze was like a knife, scraping across every face.
"You've all heard about the attack on the Seventh Prince," she began, her voice still cold. "His Highness is seriously injured and remains unconscious. His whereabouts are known only to a few in Jubei City and the court."
She paused, her gaze growing even colder. "
In other words, someone is colluding with the enemy."
A deathly silence fell over the city walls.
The soldiers, fresh from the bloody battle, bowed their heads, not daring to breathe.
Yun Ruoxi continued, "From today onward, no one is allowed to leave the camp without permission. Anyone who dares to disobey will be treated as a traitor and executed without exception."
She waved her hand, as if shooing away flies, "Disperse."
The guards silently walked down the city walls.
Li Jinshui also turned and followed the crowd down.
But after only a few steps, a voice came from behind:
"Stop."
Li Jinshui stopped.
He turned around and saw Yun Ruoxi staring at him.
Her eyes were as cold as ice, scrutinizing him from head to toe, as if looking at something.
"You're from the Imperial Guard?"
Li Jinshui nodded. "Yes."
Yun Ruoxi's lips curled slightly, but the smile was chilling. "People from the Imperial Guard need to be investigated more thoroughly. After all, you're closest to the Governor."
She paused, her gaze falling on Li Jinshui's face, and suddenly asked, "What's your name?"
"Li Jinshui."
"Li Jinshui..." Yun Ruoxi repeated it, then chuckled softly, "I've got it."
Li Jinshui stood there, his face expressionless.
He simply looked at Yun Ruoxi, his gaze as calm as a winter lake.
Yun Ruoxi was slightly taken aback by his gaze, then a hint of displeasure flashed in her eyes.
"What, you're not convinced?"
Li Jinshui shook his head. "No."
Yun Ruoxi stared at him for a couple of breaths, then smiled.
That smile was condescending, as if looking at an ant.
"That's good." She said, "Go back. Remember, you're not allowed to leave the camp. Otherwise—"
She didn't finish her sentence, but the meaning was clear.
Li Jinshui nodded, turned, and continued walking down the city wall.
After walking a dozen steps, he suddenly stopped and glanced back.
Yun Ruoxi had already turned away and was talking to the guest retainers, no longer looking at him.
He looked away and continued walking.
As he descended the city wall, Monkey and Er Gou greeted him.
"Jinshui!" Monkey said in a low voice, his face full of worry, "How are you? Did that woman give you any trouble?"
Li Jinshui shook his head and continued walking.
Er Gou followed behind him, muttering under his breath, "Those people from the capital, what are they! We risked our lives to defend the city, and they come here and act all high and mighty, even saying they're colluding with the enemy… colluding with the enemy's mother!"
"Shut up!" Monkey glared at him, "Don't you want to live?"
Er Gou reluctantly shut his mouth.
The three walked back to the camp in silence.
At the camp gate, there were several unfamiliar guards, all soldiers from the capital, wearing gleaming iron armor and standing ramrod straight. Seeing Li Jinshui and the others, their eyes were filled with scrutiny and wariness.
Li Jinshui entered the camp gate and glanced back.
The guards were staring at him, their gazes fixed on him.
He looked away and continued walking inside.
Back in his barracks, he closed the door and sat motionless on his bed.
Monkey and Er Gou followed him in and stood beside him, unsure what to say.
After a long while, Li Jinshui suddenly smiled.
The smile was faint and gentle, yet it sent a chill down Monkey and Er Gou's spines.
"Jinshui... are you... are you alright?" Monkey asked cautiously.
Li Jinshui shook his head.
Then he looked up at the window.
Outside, the guards from the capital were patrolling back and forth, their armor gleaming blindingly in the sunlight.
He remembered Yun Ruoxi's cold eyes, her words, "I've remembered," and her haughty smile.
"Jinshui?" Monkey called again.
Li Jinshui finally spoke, his voice soft:
"I'm fine."
He lay down and closed his eyes. He
heard the footsteps of a monkey leaving the house, the muttering of Er Gou, the patrolling footsteps outside the window, and the faint laughter of the capital's retainers in the distance.
He listened to these sounds, motionless.
In his mind, a name was slowly being etched:
Yun Ruoxi.
He opened his eyes and looked at the roof.
The Kaiyuan Realm was high above, and the Tongmai Realm was equally high above.
But he was only at the mid-stage of the Inner Strength Realm. He
was still far from it.
But he wasn't in a hurry.
Because he had his data panel, his points, and an endless stream of enemies to kill.
One day, he would stand before those people.
At that time, he hoped that the one named Yun Ruoxi would still be able to smile.
Outside the window, the sunlight slowly slanted westward.
The third day in Jubei City passed in oppression and stifling tension. Sighs and groans filled
the camp.
The soldiers who had just survived the bloody battle had thought they would be rewarded, given rest, and at least receive some respect.
But what awaited him was house arrest, suspicion, and the disdainful looks of the powerful figures from the capital.
Some cursed, some cried, but most remained silent.
Li Jinshui lay in the barracks, eyes closed, breathing steadily.
But his hand remained tightly clutching the bag of fifty taels of silver.
It was the money Li Houde had sent to buy his life.
He accepted it.
But the debt wasn't over yet.
He closed his eyes, a slight smile playing on his lips.
No rush.
