Chapter 183 - V5 Chapter 174 Dust of time

[ Wings beating as fast as they could, the breeze behind us feels like a cyclone. With each beat that pushes us forward within the vacuum of space feels like the air behind us sucks us back. Without the movement of time, spells casted gets stuck within the air just like the wind behind us.

We made quite a distance from the world but not even halfway to the moon and this poor fairy is already on his last legs. He'll probably fall unconscious soon, using that much energy at such a short time.

I concluded as I struggle not to squirm from the uncomfortable feeling of his sweat dripping from his hand to mine.

" Wait... Dripping?"

I softly noticed as I turned to the fairy. How is he still moving when time had stopped? Unless Leo (Mirauleo) did something like a spell or a talisman out of his own blood or magic? That means...

I turned back looking behind us where the darkness was turning white from the amount of wind pressure being packed in a tight vacuum of space. I casted cloud creation onto the air fusing the wind pussure with my magic.

One second I was floating with stars shimming in the distance, the next I was in terrible pain being smashed against the moon at such speed, my sight was clouded by the dust of time and I found it hard to keep the dust out of my mouth. Covering my mouth with my hand, I struggled against the horrible pain and laying there for awhile.

It took some time for my body to become numb and I casted a water barrier around us that pushed the dust 5 feet away and kept it away. The barrier smelled like a locker room since the only water around was the fairy's sweat.

" Should have summon water before casting that."

I whined as I slowly sat up to check in the fairy. He was knocked unconscious from the impact, was badly injure and thanks to my spell, extremely dehydrated. With much panic, I summon water, heal his wounds and pump water into his system.

I awkwardly checked the water barrier and felt the rush of relief when there was no traces on blood within the barrier. Extremely grateful that I casted a water barrier and not a liquid barrier or I would have been panicking over a mummy corpse.

" Sorry buddy, should have warned you before I did that. I didn't think things through."

I apologise as I dragged his arms over my shoulder and shimmed him into position. I grunted at his weight as I gave him a piggyback ride. My body was still strained due to my low recovery rate since I was away quite a distance from my core. I was healing but not instantly nor quickly which was something I could do anything about.

Looks through my water barrier, I couldn't tell where I was with all the dust blocking my sight. I casted a strong wind spell along with contain which helped me collect all the dust within a 20 feet radius and keep it in a wind twister behind me.

It was quite a long walk before I finally found a familiar signboard and followed it to the main entrance where I found it deserted. The main doors blasted open from the inside like something huge had escaped.

" Must have been the dust?"

I guessed as I shifted the fairy's weight and headed in. No lanterns were lit and everything was covered in dust. The clockwork gears were trying to turn but were stuck and kept jerking back before trying again.

" What once was a beautiful dream of creation and memories, now lay before me like a nightmare. Familiar yet unrecognisable, creepy and yet homely, strange and yet normal? The obvious result of predictable occurs if the glass were to break and yet I'm shocked by it. Guess theories are different when facing it in real life. *Scoffs* when building this place, no one even thought breaking that glass was possible should have realised time would change that. "

I shivered as I monologue to myself, trying to distract myself from my fear, doing my best not to question where were the rest of the fairy and if there was another hidden mastermind behind this plot. Or if it could be a trap?! What if the mastermind is a stronger being from a different world??!!

My thoughts flicked back and forth between my monologue and my fears as my mind ran both trains of thoughts while trying to stop the fear train by overpowering my monologue .

But soon stumbling through the darkness wipe out all thoughts except for pain and frustration. The all pathways were raised metal bracket fixed in place to allow workers to walk over the many gears working below. Making it easier for them to check from above and fly down to it whenever they saw a problem. The pathway had a handrail and another bar below it to serve as a guard but there was much space in between that and the pathway for someone to slip through.

Feeling the pathway with my feet was a tedious task especially with the weight of another straining me down. I had to keep switching between legs, one to feel out the edges of the pathway while the other to hold the weight of myself and another. It didn't take long for my office used legs to buckle under the weight and cramp. Eventually I got frustrated and started walking without feeling around which led to me almost stepping off the pathway and falling to the gears below or bumping/ stepping on random items that clink and clunk in the dark. All I could assume were either tools or tools boxes and many a few clip boards.

My mind cursed myself for not knowing how to fly with the winged shoes but even that could help me since I would probably fly straight into machinery or gears in such darkness.

A soft glow of light, lit up down a familiar pathway. Subconsciously I was drawn to it, no longer wanting to feel my way around and bumping into things. I soon came to that huge window that overlooked the world. A world that still shimmered with all its beauty and glory but no longer turned. No dust flowed to it and nothing was moving, nothing other than the frost that has started to build on one side while the other side started to heat up.

" I must hurry. If this goes on any longer then half the world will freeze and the other half would burn."

I muttered to myself as I continued on my way with much speed since there was enough light for the pathway leading towards the central headquarters.

As I neared, I could see glows of soft lanterns that danced below and around the centre. Many fairies were gathered there, most were unconscious or injured and the rest were tending to those in need.

" Lord Metztli! Lord Metztli is here! Zen did it! He managed to fly all the way to the heavens! Someone inform Mariana!"

A light fairy chimed as she cried out to the others, making them stir with much hope at my arrival. Mariana came flying quickly towards me like a comet, behind her followed another two fairy.

" Lord Metztli! Thank goodness you're here!"

Mariana wrap her arms around me, hugging both me and Zen whom I was still carrying.

" It's good to see you too. How is everyone? What's the situation?"

I questioned as Mariana took a step back, giving room for the other two fairy to take Zen from me.

" Most have mild injuries from the blast, some were knocked unconscious. Those working further away weren't harmed from the blast. The situation is as you see it, the infinity glass is broken, dust is everywhere and all machines are down because of it. The gears shouldn't have been damaged but they are down as well, most likely the blast cause many tools to go flying and jamming up the gears. "

Mariana brief me as she leads me pass my brother's office and towards the courtyard where the enternity glass was kept right behind it. As I drew closer, fairies start flying up with lanterns around the huge time glass shaped like an hourglass. It was hard to see where was broken but from the amount of glass scattered around the courtyard, I thought it was a small crack I couldn't see any broken glass whatsoever.

" Where is the crack?"

I questioned with my head craned as far as it could go, trying to see where it was broken.

" Crack? The whole upper part is broken."

Mariana pointed and I strained my eyes to see, only then did I noticed the shimmering broken parts on the narrow middle of the enternity glass. At first I couldn't believe it since there wasn't much broken pieces but then I realised that, Leo (Mirauleo) flew from his balcony and straight through the glass.

I dashed to look at the gears and machinery behind the enternity glass just to see shards of glass from huge to tiny rained all over the back of that area.

" Oh boy..."

I muttered in much pain at the work laid before me.
