Chapter 1 - Alone

Thank you for giving this book a read, Love you ❤️

Nessy looked at the cascading waterfall before her, unable to get enough of the sight. She loved the breeze that gently brushed her face, and the setting sun just above the waterfall made the place look magical.

"Humph," she let out a sigh of satisfaction. She couldn't help but love nature at that moment. "Oh my goodness, this is just too beautiful," she said with a wide smile, but then she remembered she was alone and talking to herself. Not that it bothered her, though; she felt a slight sting of loneliness in her heart but brushed it off immediately. Deciding to capture the moment, she took pictures of herself and the magical place. "Oh my my, Instagram, you're in big trouble. Damn, I'm killing it in this blue," Nessy said, admiring her dress as she flattered herself.

She believed she was beautiful and didn't need anyone to tell her so.

"Hi guys! I'm at a very magical place, my special spot to visit. I love it so much here, and I love you all for your love and support… Kisses." Nessy went live on Instagram and instantly received a flood of love, likes, caring comments, and new followers. She was a social media queen, with all her accounts verified—TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. But that was the only life she had. In reality, she was alone.

She had no friends or family. Her mother died during childbirth, and her father passed away a year ago. Though she lived comfortably—her family was wealthy, and all her father's riches were left in her name according to his will. Currently, she lived alone in their mansion, accompanied only by her phone and social media.

Nessy's distant family members couldn't offer company because her father hadn't been kind to them when he was alive. He was arrogant, rude, and proud, and Nessy was definitely the chip off the old block. She took after him in everything—caring only for herself. So no one cared for her either. She was hated by many around her, and her only admirers were her social media followers, who didn't know her true character. The only nice thing about her was her looks and body, but that didn't earn her any real relationships. Her attitude was just too rude to tolerate—and you know what? She didn't care. Not even a little bit. She might feel lonely at times, but she was too proud to admit it.

She sat down on a rock beside her, scrolling through her phone as if looking for something. "Aha! There you are," she said, feeling proud to find the number of her dad's PA, who now helped run the company. She hadn't saved the number because she thought he wasn't important and had to search for him through her call log.

"Hello," she said in a serious tone, irritation flashing in her voice, with no hint of respect. "How was the meeting, and what did the board agree on?"

"Um… yes, ma'am. The board agreed that the samples shall be tested on Friday, tomorrow, and the product should be officially launched on Monday to begin the week," the PA replied confidently, trying to prove his worth.

"At least something good from you. Also, don't forget that all the products are in my name and under my face. Another thing—I won't make it to the office today as I said earlier. Goodbye."

"But ma'am, we need your—wait, did she hang up on me? What a brat," Mr. Davies muttered as he walked to his desk. He didn't expect less from Nessy; he already knew her well. "That brat doesn't know I'm old enough to be her father! My son Will is 23—three years older than she is. Humph… well, some things just get passed on by blood." Mr. Davies resumed his work with a long face.

"Now, let me savor this beautiful place. I should really take some photos here for my profile—yeah, my DP is old," Nessy pouted as she talked to herself about enjoying the place. In fact, she didn't feel like leaving; she wanted to stay. She felt a certain peace inside and loved the vibes around her. The beauty of nature hypnotized her.

She made herself comfortable, settling in to watch the sun set. The water fell without a care in the world as she munched on her favorite snack—a cheesecake and milk—while her headphones played Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful." She simply sat there, staring into nature, feeling her nerves calm.

She relaxed even more after finishing her snacks, placing her head on a higher rock. Surrounded by calm serenity, she didn't realize when she fell asleep.

"What a treat… and it's all mine," a deep, soothing voice emerged from the waterfall…
