Seeing the notification, I finally felt relieved. I let all the pent up exhaustion take over me as I collapsed on top of the corpse. I relaxed as I felt the warm glow of leveling up and my body began to heal itself a little faster.
At that time, the exhaustion was so great that I just wanted to close my eyes and sleep.
There was not a shred of energy left in me.
My sole thought was to simply close my eyes and go to sleep. Nevertheless, despite all, I dared not to close my eyes.
I was afraid. I was afraid that if I closed my eyes I might never wake up again.
Afraid that, after closing my eyes, I would lose my consciousness, and losing consciousness in such a place is no different than inviting predators to eat you.
If I fell unconscious, then I would be at the mercy of the monsters here, and there's no doubt they will tear me apart. That fear kept me awake.
I gulped the last stamina potion in my pouch, hoping to recover swiftly. I currently only have one health potion on me.
What a disaster, I say.
As I lay there, I decided to check on my status.

• Gained skill: [Mana enhancement(common)]- You can coat your weapons with mana to make them more powerful. The more mana you put into a weapon, the greater its power. This does not change the strength of the weapon itself. Mana can also be applied as an armor coating which makes one resistant to some effects of magic.
"woahhhh..." A new skill.
[Mana Enhancement] .. hmmm?..
Though it is only a common grade skill,
From the description of the skill, it seems pretty impressive. I can already see a lot of uses of this skill.
To be able to coat your weapon with mana will not only increase the durability of the weapon, but also the damage it can inflict upon its target, which is very enticing. It will be pretty useful in my future battles for sure.
and if I level up this skill, would it be possible to coat my whole body with mana for extra defense?!... it sounds feasible.
Next, I put +1 stat point in both my strength and vitality. Adding in the stat points, I didn't feel much of a change in my body though, but I felt that my recovery rate got a little faster though.
It seemed that adding stat points to vitality would make me feel more energized, and by giving me an extra stat point of strength, I should feel even more powerful in combat. But there is one thing that bothers me?
I mean, it is great that I can grow stronger with the system. But can I really trust the system??...
The system is both "amazing" and at the same time "scary". Just adding some stat points makes you stronger right away. Doesn't that mean the system has full control over your body or something? Like the system could do anything it wants with our body? That's scary.
And what if the system turns against us? What if it starts killing people?...
Sigh...
But I guess it doesn't matter now, does it? Even if the system turns against us, what could we even do then?... Nothing, we could do nothing. Thinking about all of this, my head started to hurt.
So, I stopped my train of thoughts because I felt like I was getting paranoid.
(After a few hours)
After a few hours of rest or more like, lying down like a dead log, I recovered enough to move freely. My stamina recovered enough that I was able to move more easily now, though my legs still burned a bit from running on them so hard during the battle. My body was still aching from the boar's attack, but I had a feeling that it would be better after some more hours of rest.
Though, I was still amazed by the healing potion. If it was on Earth, forget about recovery, I could have died in seconds under such grievous injuries. Again, it made me realise that it's not Earth anymore.
After that, I started to look around myself, noticing that the forest was getting darker, indicating that it was going to be night soon.
So, I decided to find a nice camping spot and camp there for tonight as I didn't want to venture in the forest at night. Even on Earth there is a saying that " The forest becomes alive at night", and I didn't want to test that, especially in a forest filled with terrifying magical beasts. God knows what kind of dangerous monsters lurk in the forest.
After a few minutes of walking, I found a large tree, the largest in the vicinity. I decided to settle there for tonight. It was roughly 100 meters away from the dead boar. If possible, I really didn't want to camp anywhere near that boar.
The smell of fresh blood can attract other monsters. But, I didn't have a better choice.

While collecting some dry wood, grass and leaves for lighting up a fire, I started to think about the recent events that I went through.
I didn't know if I should curse my luck or be grateful about it. Am I unlucky....
Not even a day had passed and I encountered such a dangerous beast that could have easily killed me. My life in this new world would have ended even before it started.
Or, am I extremely lucky, that not only did I survive that, but even managed to kill the beast and I unlocked a new skill. On top of that, I didn't see a single beast while I was recovering.
Not even a day and I went through so much.
Truly fascinating!....
***************************
"OK, all done". Now on to the biggest task.
"How do I start a fire"? I asked myself. It's not like I was a mage who could light a fire with his fire magic or something.
"Oh well".. I gathered the dry grass and took two stones. Then I coated the stones with my mana. I wanted to smash the stones to create a spark like those survival shows back on earth.
"Here goes nothing". I smashed the stones and guess what?..
I was able to light a fire on my very first try,
Oh man... I must be a genius.
*******************************
It was already dark now, and the forest had become silent. There is no longer the rush of wind through the trees, nor the chirping of birds. All there is is stillness broken by a distant rustle, or perhaps some soft thump that echoes in the distance. It's unnerving to be so cut off from the rest of the world.
After lighting the fire, I roasted the boar meat over its flames and sat back down near the fire. The food was not bad at all—a little fatty but quite tasty.
I also dried some of the meat in the exhaust for later use. As soon as I got it done, I took out the flowers that I had collected.
[Flower(common)]- A common wildflower found throughout the forests. It can be used in making salves and poultices, and can also help with minor burns when combined with other ingredients.
The flower was not anything special though. I collected this flower because it has a strong scent.
Then I mushed the flowers and made them into a paste and applied them to the dried meat.
Why am I doing this, you ask??..
It's pretty simple because I wanted to cover up the meat scent as much as possible because it might attract some uninvited guests.
At night, alone in a forest filled with terrifying monsters, I bet you don't want to give them any chance to wander near your campsite.
***
After everything was done, I put out the fire and removed any traces of a person being there. After all, in this place, I will not only have to be careful against monsters, but also other humans.
Then, I climbed on top of the tree to rest, cause, no matter what, I didn't want to sleep on the ground.
From above, I could see the stars twinkling in the night sky, and the full moon shining brightly.
There are a lot of different types of constellations here, and a few of which I've never seen before.
It was truly a beautiful sight.
Before going to sleep, I checked the tutorial panel.

It had only been a few hours since everything had started, yet already close to 300 people had perished. Alex fervently questioned whether monsters alone were to blame for the numerous fatalities.
