As Charles hovered five hundred meters to the right of the Giant Gate, near the dome, he could see the structures clearly.
They were broken stone pillars. Judging from what he saw, the Foundation had once built an inverted city atop them.
If that upside-down city still existed, it would surely be magnificent. Unfortunately, after so much time, all that remained were ruined walls and shattered remnants.
"Hmm?" Noticing something, Charles climbed onto one of the pillars to inspect it closely. The sharp cuts on the surface were unusual; they weren't formed by natural erosion.
This type of cut reminded him of past enemies—the massive mantises that hung on the outskirts of New Territory City.
This inverted city hadn't simply fallen on its own; it had been destroyed by those mantises.
Looks like there are probably other mantis colonies across the dome. I hope they don't cause any trouble the next time we come up here.
