The blade vanished at an incredible speed. The old woman easily dodged the all-consuming Rotten Inflammation and appeared right in front of Anna.
Her body seemed locked in place; she was unable to move. Her mind felt paralyzed, and she could only watch helplessly.
Even before the blade reached her, the sheer force of the attack was taking its toll. Anna's fair skin began to crack, revealing the tentacles beneath. The tentacles themselves then split open, exposing the flesh below as the damage traveled deeper.
Just as Anna thought she was about to die, a dark object flew over and covered her face.
CLANG! Sparks flew high into the air. A metallic clash rang out, and then the dust settled.
Behind Anna, a trench several hundred meters long and seemingly bottomless had been carved into the ground.
