"A dog's face with its skin peeled off? It's smiling at me?"
Listening to Bai Lingmiao's words, the blind Li Huowang painted a horrifying image in his mind.
After swallowing hard, Li Huowang asked in the direction of the sound, "Mantou?"
"WOOF! WOOF!!" The familiar barking rang out.
Li Huowang had owned Mantou for over a year, and he was absolutely certain that was her voice. There was no pain or fear in it, only excitement and eagerness.
With furrowed brows, Li Huowang tilted his ear, straining to listen. Then he asked again, "Li Sui?"
Li Sui's slightly overlapping voice came from the exact same direction as the barks. "Dad, I'm here."
As he spoke, Li Sui seemed to want to climb in through the window but was immediately cut off by a burst of urgent drumming.
"Dad, Mom won't let me come over," Li Sui said, a tinge of grievance in his voice.
Hearing this, Li Huowang rubbed his temples in anguish, unsure of what to do.
