Chapter 31 - A Feeling

"You don't need me to keep your money for you, do you?"

"No,"she said, shaking her head, bent down on her duffel bag, double checking if she had all her stuff.

From Radiant she will go directly to the racetrack to practice.

"Dommie thank you for letting me have my things here while I was away."

"No need for thanks. Your trip was a great success!" He said beaming.

She straightened up and slug her duffel bag over her shoulder.

She chuckled a little with how Dommie clasped his hands in delight.

She got his enthusiasm because Ridge also gave her a huge tip. It was bigger than she expected and for a second she wanted to turn down the generous amount but the money was already given to Dommie.

The thought of returning the money was just a flicker at the back of her head because she badly needed all the cash she could dig her hands into.

"By the way, thank you for opening a bank account for me," she said as she walked to the door.

"No biggie. I feel comfortable that way than keeping your money with me," he said, arching his brows.

She just waved her hand as she kept on walking out of the salon, ignoring the silent inquiry in Dommie's eyes.

She had left in his care her first salary in the past because she didn't want to bring it with her and then encounter those loansharks.

Now, with what the doctor told her about her father's health situation, she was planning more than just paying hospital bills and loans.

She had to be wise with her money because there's still Jake. He's still studying.

With extra money on hand and due to her father's nagging, she was considering the idea to seek professional help to know more about her past because they were still a lot of fragments in her memories that confused her.

She uttered a silent prayer in herad that her mother would be strong enough to deal with the fact that her life with her husband will be cut short.

She exhaled a deep breath and blinked her eyes twice to stop the tears forming at the corner of her eyes.

She raised her hand to hail the first taxi to past by. Get on and told the driver her destination and closed her eyes to rest.

She wished that she could shut everything in her life as easy as closing her eyes. But life was never easy.

Her thoughts were all over the place that when the driver grumpily said they had arrived in their destination she was startled.

It felt like she just closed her eyes for a few minutes and not for forty-five minutes.

She exhaled another deep breath and handed the man the fare and got out of the taxi.

She pulled a pair of dark sunglasses from the side pocket of her bag as she stood on the road side, watching the taxi pulled away.

When the taxi was out of sight she sauntered to the gate of the racetrack casually putting on her sunglasses, expecting a scolding from Trez.

The security guard situated at the second floor of the guard house next to the electronic gate returned her wave as he opened the gate for her.

She listened to the cracking of the gate as it opens and closes as she continued her way to the team garage where Trez would be.

She heaved a deep breath, readying herself to the series of questions that she was momentarily taken aback when all that welcome her as she entered the garage was silence.

She looked behind her back, frowning.

She wondered if she was in the wrong place. But the car that she uses for practice was parked right in front of her.

"Hello?"

"Hello!?" She called in a louder voice when she gets no reply.

She stood in the middle of the garage, dropping her bag on the dusty floor wondering where everyone went when she heard a loud sound at the back.

She turned her head towards the location of the sound.

"Is anybody here?"

Silence.

"Yew! You're back!"

She jumped on her feet and whipped her head to see the grinning face of the head mechanic of the team.

He looked flustered, seeing her.

"Where is everyone?" She asked, arching her brows.

Zan grinned at her boyishly and said, "they all went to an underground race."

"I thought you're with them. I didn't expect you to come here today."

She looked at Zan as he dropped on his back and pushed himself under the car.

Zan has always been quiet but today he's weird.

She furrowed her brows trying to figure out what happened before he came but she shook her head and dropped the thought and went to her locker to change instead.

She's lucky that Trez wasn't around. Because if not, he'll probably skin her alive.

She shut everything in her head and just got on the practice car and did a few loops in the racetrack.

Before she could finished the first loop her head cleared up and she forgot everything.

She stopped planning and strategizing her life.

The hospital bills, how to earn money for the loansharks that are always lurking around them, her forgotten memories and if she still wants to find them. And the one that she was trying her best to forget—- the impending death of her father.

In the racetrack her mind is clear except for one thing —-to be the first one to get to the finish line.

Everything just vanished under the vibration of the car's engine.

She's alone but she's in control. And that's how she likes it.

To be in control.

It's something that she doesn't have since she was taken.

She lost control of her life when she lost her memories.

And those fragments of memories that came back recently scared her. She's scared to chase them because a small voice at the back of her head is whispering she's not safe.

Someone is coming to get her.
