"Get back here! And pick up that pillow!"
Evan Fairchild shut the door, acting as if he hadn't heard his mother's roar at all.
Downstairs, Noelle Grant had gone to the kitchen to help. Zoe Quinn was chatting with Megan Langdon, who immediately stood up when she saw Evan Fairchild come down, looking at him with a hint of restraint.
Evan Fairchild headed straight for the door, apparently not even planning to say hello.
"Evan, we're about to eat. Aren't you staying for dinner?"
"No, that's alright. I'm going back to Jansburg tomorrow."
"Going back so soon? Mom and Dad still haven't fully recovered."
"They're well enough to yell and hit people," Evan Fairchild said, then walked out.
Zoe Quinn glanced at Megan Langdon. 'Looks like this Miss Langdon still hasn't caught Evan's eye.'
'I'm really curious if he and the old lady will actually be able to fulfill their one-day pact.'
