"What do you know?"
Kleah kept her voice small as she filled out her side of the form.
I made sure no one around us was close enough to hear, then answered just as quietly.
"I know that you're a half."
Her pen stopped for a split second.
"Do not call me that."
"It hurts."
"That's the purpose."
Kleah smiled sweetly as she said it and then pricked my finger with the tip of the pen.
I clicked my tongue.
"How did you find out?"
"My friend told me."
"Your… friend?"
Kleah's hand stilled completely this time, and a little of the color left her face.
"Relax," I said. "He's as harmless as an ant… when it comes to women."
That did not reassure her in the slightest.
"What do you want…?"
[
Cleenah wisely stopped herself there.
"A sponsor," I said. "I told you already."
"Don't joke with me. I know you want something else."
As expected.
