Above us, great winged beasts tore through the sky in bursts of speed, their cries blending with the cheers of the crowd and the constant rumble of movement all around the field.
"It's a shame you can't join, Jayden," I said. "You don't have a familiar."
I said it even though I already knew very well that he did.
"A-Ah…yeah..."
Jayden stiffened exactly as expected.
I knew what was going through his mind.
What if they find me?
What if they attack the academy to kill me?
What if they find my brother?

He was afraid.
