Chapter 31 - CH 31:

Not understanding what he meant, but knowing his character, he stopped the car on the roadside and entered the forest before jumping inside AF and exiting into Loyed's place.

Finding him sitting on the side of a building, looking at another one on the other side.

"Where are we?" Leo, looking around, asked, but soon his face turned to a frown in disgust.

"Eww!" He masked his mouth and nose with his hand. "What the hell, man?"

"Ah, sorry, I forgot to mention," Loyed said and pointed below. "I found something really disturbing. Look."

Leo looked down, not noticing something, so he used Loyed's clan ability to see through solid objects, and that froze him.

All the people inside were in some kind of freaking cannibalism process—some drinking blood, some eating humans outright.

But what really disturbed him was that the humans were alive, and the smell was coming from them.

"And what are you waiting for?" Leo said sternly.

"Two things, actually," Loyed said. "First, the place is warded. I can't phase directly inside. And if that's not bad enough, I'm nerfed, remember?"

Looking back at the building, he counted to almost a dozen before stopping.

Loyed may be OP inside AF, but here, he had restrictions on his ability and energy count, so it would be a suicidal mission to go there alone.

"And the second?" Leo nodded; all the things he said wouldn't stop him from taking action, so the second was the real reason.

"You smell this? Some of my people said that was actually corruption," Loyed said, confusing Leo.

"What?"

"Well, it's a common thing known in this world. Under excessive emotion, the people of this world release negative energy that feeds the dark creatures around," Loyed said and pointed at the basement. "All the negative energy you smell is only the excess; the real deal is fed there."

Leo spread his senses and noticed something below the building, making his hair stand on end. "Is that a chimera?"

"Yup, and with three heads," Loyed said and stared at Leo, waiting for his reaction. "That's why I called you."

A chimera was something they read about in one of the lost books, and particularly an artificially raised creature, the process wasn't something a normal-minded person would do.

As for what they got about the chimera transformation process, in addition to being painful to a comical level, it had to be done with the will of the subject—meaning he had to be willing to go through the process.

And the kick in the ass was that it already had three heads.

In the power scale, the more heads it had, the stronger the chimera was. And with three heads, if it was inside AF, he could one-shot kill it. But here, it would create a deadly battle for Loyed.

"So, want me to deal with it?" Leo said and looked at him. "So that way your people are surrounding the place?"

Leo already noticed dozens of hiding ghost wolves around, about to move on the building.

"Yup. They will attack first, take down the ward, and we'll go down directly to see our little friend there," Loyed said, letting out a whistle.

The next second, the enclosing ghost wolves appeared beside the guards outside the ward and took them down. Surprisingly, the moment their short knives cut their throats, they burned from the wound into ashes and spread through all the body.

"That's new," Leo said. "If I remember correctly, they used normal short swords, right?"

"Yeah, but that's probably the energy coating cause," Loyed said, noticing the ward disappearing. He was about to jump and shift, but was stopped by Leo.

"The effect wasn't from the ward." Leo pointed at one of the wolves who was trying to shift to an intangible form but couldn't.

"Well, straight frontal breakthrough, directly," Loyed said and summoned a pair of short swords.

Leo took a revolver and katana from storage, jumping directly in front of the building door, cutting the creature in front into ash, and slipping inside.

"Follow," Loyed said, slipping inside, and surprisingly they didn't find any real resistance until the basement door, where they encountered overwhelming force from the other side.

About to enter, they sensed some creatures from the top floors heading in their direction, and surprisingly, they were far more than expected.

"I'll take care of this thing. Protect the door," Leo ordered, swinging his katana and checking his gun.

With a nod to Loyed, he kicked the door and jumped directly into the space between the stairs.

Loyed looked at the door just in time before sealing it with a formation.

"Form pairs. Take the corners," Loyed said. "Keep eyes on your phasing ability—the moment the restraint lets go, wield it."

The next second, a flood of human-shaped raptures with bloody eyes, sharp teeth, and claws broke the door at the end of the corridor, and the shooting and slashing began.

On the other side, Leo had just landed, and his eyes frowned at the scene in front of him: a horse with a human torso, a dog head as the main, and two human heads on the shoulders, sleeping in what looked like a pile of bones.

Leo got closer carefully, stopping as the creature started to talk.

"To think someone could resist the corruption directly in such close contact, I'm surprised." The howling-like voice came with 3 deferent pair of eyes on each head looking at Leo. "What are you?"
