I close the portal to the Blind Eternity, ignoring the sound of disappointment from Zelretch, who uses all kinds of tools for his research. I look at Commander White, whom I will call Commander White instead of simply White to avoid confusion, and say,
"As you can see, my power is the ability to enter the void between universes and jump from one to another."
"T-this should not be possible. Many of our researchers try to see if they can breach the gap between universes, but they cannot."
"They are running out of time. There are many civilizations capable of breaching the dimensional veil. Some cause galactic crises, while others reach greater frontiers in their journeys. Me? I use a mystic art to breach the veil, and that is the reason why we are here."
I lean back in my chair and look at the others, who are listening closely. I can already tell some of them see me as a deity. I will think about that later.
"The reason why we are here is my lack of experience in using my power. Instead of jumping to my target world, we arrive in an alternate version of it."
"Target world, sir? Does that mean you do not come from our world?"
Instead of me answering her question, White walks to my side and says,
"Yes. Sir Ryan comes to our world because of the signal sent by the planet. Because of our efforts to preserve and fix the world, the planet sends an emergency signal to his world, allowing him to reach us."
"If that is so, why does our planet not send the same signal?"
"Because this planet is already in a comatose state."
Yasaka speaks for the first time.
"When we arrive here, my husband and I immediately notice the state of the planet. That is another reason we know we have arrived in an alternate universe. It is not yet dead because the atmosphere is still here, but it will be dead in a couple of hundred years, maybe three hundred at most."
Huh. She can predict how long the planet will last. She is growing stronger, and her senses are sharpening. Soon, she will be a proper Sage, able to connect to the planet just as I do.
"However, before you beat yourselves up with this information, no, it is not your fault."
The androids look at her with gazes full of hope. They are ready to blame themselves because, in their minds, they are the reason why humans haven't returned to the planet. They feel they haven't tried hard enough.
"It is the machines who are at fault. They are the ones destroying this planet and tainting it with their technology. The aliens are also part of the problem. They arrived here, spreading something that slowly kills the world. At least that threat is no longer here, but the damage is already too severe for the planet to recover on its own."
"I-is there something we can do? Please, tell us what to do. We will do whatever it takes. We want to restore this planet to the home our creators once lived on."
Anemone walks forward, a fire of determination and a hint of desperation burning behind her synthetic eyes.
"Sadly, no,"
I say, shaking my head.
"You need certain energy that only humans produce. However, because of the current situation, normal humans cannot stay here for long without dying."
I glance at Zelretch and make a small gesture. He catches it and immediately understands. I know the humans in the alternate universe developed technology that can terraform the planet and slowly restore it to its original state. We can use them.
"What about asking the humans in the alternate world?"
Zelretch suddenly says, and I look at him, and play along with the plan.
"Really? Are they ready?"
"Of course. It will take a long time, and they need to worry about the machines when traveling here, but they are ready."
"Then, please open the connection. I am not ready to create a stable portal between two worlds yet."
"Of course."
With a wave of his hand, a portal appears not too far away from us. I look at the others and say,
"So! Do you guys want to visit another world? I know the people there are changing their world into a better one."
Their bright expressions could light up a stadium. I chuckle a little and lead them through the portal, and boy, am I surprised at the progress they are making here. When I step on the ground, my Planeswalker power immediately claims the land, and I receive 2 Green and 2 Blue Mana. That can only mean one thing: these people have changed a colorless land into a high-tech, high-nature city.
I look at Zelretch, who looks too smug for my liking, and whisper,
"What kind of people did you rescue to build something like this?"
"Techno-environmentalists. I rescued them from being purged by an alien invader preparing to crack their world. They know how to turn a barren world into a lush Gaia World. The tech I brought back home comes from them. If not for the fact that I need to teach a lot of people the basics, my planet would have turned into a paradise already."
"Will they be okay with us being here?"
"Oh, you don't need to worry about that. They are more than happy to accommodate us."
"I don't like the tone you're using. What have you done, Zelretch?"
"You will see~"
I watch as Zelretch grins at me, but before I can question him further, I see a group of people walking toward us. The one leading them is 9S, my 9S, and he looks thrilled to see me.
"Lord Ryan!"
Lord? Why in the hell is he calling me Lord? What is happening to 9S, who loves being called by name, purring at me, and having his head patted?
"Good morning, 9S. How are you? Is everything okay around here?"
"Yes! We are currently building a megastructure to fix the tidal lock problem. In a few years, we will have proper day and night cycles!"
"I see. That is indeed good news." I look at the people next to him. "And these people are?"
"Ah! Please…"
One of them, a woman in her forties, walks forward and bows low toward me.
"Welcome to our new home, my lord. We are very grateful for our savior and God to witness what we have achieved."
"What?"
==| Line Break |==
I glare at the laughing vampire next to me and watch him wipe tears from his eyes. It has been an exhausting fifteen minutes of the humans on this planet declaring me their God. I even had to prevent some of them from kissing my feet.
"Haaaa~ That was fantastic."
"Are you done? Can you tell me what is wrong with them? I thought humanity from a sci-fi timeline wouldn't believe in anything but science."
"And how wrong you are, Ryan. They are what I call Fanatic Spiritualists. They believe in higher beings like Gods, Spirits, and Magical Creatures. It also doesn't help that they have seen what you've done for them and the magical feats you performed while they are inside Cryo Chambers."
"But it isn't that impressive. It shouldn't make them think I'm a God. Now that I think about it, all of them look at us as if we are divine beings."
"Ah, that is because of evolution. They are more aware of the other side. They can sense, see, and even hear magic. To them, casting spells is an act of a God who controls primordial energy. There is also the fact that you possess a massive amount of it. Have you seen yourself from their perspective? To them, you look like a massive being made of primordial energy, and your physical form is just an avatar of your magic."
"Well…"
Being a Planeswalker makes me that way. My physical body is no longer my core; my soul is my true self now. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to lose my body. I would very much like to keep this one, thank you very much.
"Anyway, I think we should stay here for a moment and let the others handle the construction."
"While waiting, can you show me the Blind Eternity? I think I'm nearing a breakthrough in my research with just a bit more exposure."
"Sure."
