With the victim isolated, the four vigilantes began to carry out what they intended to.
Their main intention was to bring the thugs inside the building to keep them away from any prying eyes.
They did not wish for anything to be discovered so soon that could possibly be reported back to whoever was connected to those thugs.
They needed a little privacy to restrain the thugs and to hold them captive for a little longer so that some information could be gained related to what they were just doing.
The woman had already been questioned briefly moments before being locked in the bathroom, resulting in the current setting.
All of the thugs were tied up inside the sitting room of the building as four figures were gathered around them.
Eyes spoke, sharing their concerns. "The woman seems a little off. I think I have seen something like this before."
Springer narrowed his eyes for a moment before asking. "What do you mean?"
Eyes spoke again. "It is just something about her mannerisms. I have seen several people on the streets with similar traits. It could be attributed to the situation she has experienced, but there is something more to it.
It is almost like someone who is going through withdrawal. Her body was shaking and twitching a little too much, which was unnatural."
Through her investigations so far, she had found that there had been several cases where the homeless people had been in similar conditions.
They would usually experience sweating, chills and tremors along with all kinds of other physical and psychological symptoms.
Those she had often encountered with similar conditions were overly anxious, agitated and restless while showing signs of irritability and having mood swings.
Some even showed depression, intense cravings, confusion, difficulty concentrating, and memory problems, while others showed more fear or panic that was disproportionate to the situation they were experiencing at that time.
Their symptoms varied, but enough encounters like that showed that there was some underlying problem that had caused it all.
There had been little to link it all together and no real lead to follow besides what little she had gained from those who were sane and willing enough to talk of their experiences.
Even if they were in a better frame of mind, there were still people who would keep quiet out of fear of what could happen to them if anyone found out they had talked to others.
It was a general, unspoken rule in those areas that those who talked about such things to others would be used as examples to warn others from doing the same thing.
Those who would inform others or reveal secrets would be punished using some form of physical harm or social retaliation.
In some more severe cases, they could even be maimed or killed.
Those living on the streets, they had no security to protect them.
They slept and lived on the streets where they were easy targets.
Nobody would miss them if they disappeared one day.
In a lot of cases, it was not too strange that they would be found dead in some ditch or back alley.
In some more severe cases involving more brutal gang influences, they could be put on public display, whether it was their entire dead body or certain body parts that would serve as a warning to others and to display their power and influence over the surrounding areas.
It was especially the kind of example that would be expected of a more brutal gang that ruled by fear and violence.
Gasser listened to her explanation and nodded as if understanding. "You are right. I have experienced something similar. This seems to be connected to something that has been spreading in this area."
Springer contemplated what had been discussed. "It would be best to find out from their mouths who they are a part of and what their intentions are."
A cruel light shone in his eyes as he looked over the people who were restrained.
There was no hesitation toward what he was about to do, as if he had no sympathy toward those he was about to cause harm to.
He firmly believed that they were deserving of such treatment from him.
Nobody in the room stopped him as he tried waking one of them to begin interrogating them.
Each method used was quite brutal but effective in causing them enough pain to wish it would stop.
The only way they could make it stop was to begin talking.
If they refused to talk, then they would have to endure something much worse as the torture worsened.
The others were watched over by the other three as Springer continued to interrogate them for whatever information they could give.
Not a lot was revealed as they themselves were just lower grunts of the gang that were not told much besides what was mostly more well-known among their circles and was passed around through gossip and rumours.
It had been revealed that they were finishing up on the final stages of a scam that had resulted in them owning the current building and had the woman in debt to them deeply.
