Chapter 1340 - Chapter 1271 Beasts Pirates' First Island Chain (Part 2)

Not far away, fountains of water burst up from the sea surface as a group of normally sized Wailord surfaced.

This sea had a far more complex food chain, with many more lower-level organisms, such as krill and similar marine creatures, whose numbers no one could possibly count.

A single gulp from a Sea King was enough to wipe out several swarms of krill.

Of course, those Sea Kings were so enormous that the krill might not even be digested; some might simply settle down and live inside the Sea King's stomach.

This was one of the sea's unique ecological traits. Inside the belly of every giant Sea King, there might exist a completely different ecosystem.

Isolated like islands from the outside world, these environments evolved the unique species over the long lifespan of the Sea King.

Some species already declared extinct might also still exist there, with the thick stomach walls instead becoming their protective barrier.

In such an ocean, Wailord found hunting for food easy, but the chances of being eaten also increased.

Boom.

Wailord usually moved in groups, but at this moment a single Wailmer suddenly flew into the sky.

It hadn't done so voluntarily; two Wailord had knocked it upward like they were heading a ball.

They weren't playing, nor was it bullying; it was an internal issue within the group.

Different Pokémon species had different kings, and not every king could earn the wholehearted respect of all members of the group.

Among ordinary members, there would also arise individuals who wished to challenge the group leader. Only someone like Nereus, personally appointed the king by Arceus, was the unquestionable ruler of an entire species.

This Wailmer was an example. Even before evolving, it wanted to challenge the Wailord and replace it as the new king of the group.

Pokémon groups did not forbid such things. As a leader, foresight and knowledge were indispensable, and strength was equally important.

When a new generation came to challenge them, most leaders would actually feel pleased.

Pokémon were also different from natural lion prides. With their higher intelligence, they did not need to kill all their predecessors.

Even if the defeated old leader's strength had been surpassed, they still possessed far more seasoned experience.

That experience could play a significant role in the survival of the group, and in most cases the old leader would continue living within the group.

There were also some more prideful Pokémon who, after losing, would choose to leave and survive on their own.

But no matter which case it was, challenging the leader and losing always came with a price.

This Wailmer was a perfect example.

Evolution was an important process for the vast majority of Pokémon species.

Through evolution, their bodies became more mature and they gained far greater strength.

Negative evolution almost never existed, and defeating an evolved Pokémon with an unevolved body was an incredibly difficult feat.

The gap was fundamental. Whether in strength or other aspects, evolved Pokémon were simply stronger.

Even if certain attributes decreased, there would always be another aspect that became stronger to compensate.

Although the shortest plank of a barrel can affect the upper limit of the water it holds, as long as the other planks can be extended enough, the absence of this one is acceptable.

Pokémon evolution allowed them to remain within such a balanced proportion.

And so this Wailmer's life was filled with hardship. Even after failing once, it did not give up, continuing to challenge again and again.

Annoyed by this, the leader ordered the other Wailord to teach the Wailmer a lesson, which ultimately resulted in this scene of them bouncing it around like a ball.

After repeating this for several rounds, the Wailord finally stopped.

The Wailmer, that had been bounced around like a ball, fell back onto the water's surface.

Then, the Wailord kicked up a current. Still in a dazed state, the Wailmer was carried away by the sea current.

Discipline was discipline, but they would not abandon a fellow member of their own kind.

After being knocked around for so long, this Wailmer's mind was still not very clear. However, it could distinctly hear a dull rumbling sound coming from the ocean.

Thump, thump, thump.

The sea surface began to tremble. The already restless ocean grew even more turbulent, with waves surging higher. In the distance, a towering figure gradually approached.

Not far away, the Lapras made the same response. The adult Lapras led the younger ones away from the arrow made of ice.

Guided by them, the island-moving Regigigas arrived in this sea area and then advanced toward the predetermined location where the island would be placed.

New Fishman Island, dragged along by him, split through the sea current and slowly moved forward.

Flygon and Vibrava were flying high in the sky. They too noticed the arrows on the sea surface and cried out happily.

They also understood what those arrows meant. This signified the end of their journey and the arrival at their new home.

This place was still some distance from Wano Country, but compared to their original position, it was already much closer.

The sea currents near Wano Country were very unusual. The turbulent currents there were not suitable for placing islands.

That was why this location had been chosen as the island's placement point.

Amazon Lily's placement location was also not far from here, and together with several nearby islands, they could form an island chain.

The Flygon that had flown into the sky did not descend again.

After searching the sky for a while, they headed toward the direction of Onigashima. They had already sensed that aura, the mysterious aura emanating from Mt. Fuji.

The energy emitted by Arceus was something no Pokémon could resist.

So arriving at this place near Onigashima was, for the Flygon, like returning to their sacred land.

Vibrava's flying ability was not as strong as Flygon's, but they still rode the air currents stirred up by Flygon and followed behind.

As for the Trapinch…

Their body structure limited them to only watching their evolved forms flying above from inside their burrows.

Driven by their desire, their bodies began to glow with white light, evolving and then catching up with the vanguard.

Those Trapinch that still lacked the ability to evolve could only gaze at the sky from below.

However, according to records, this day became the one with the highest evolution rate in the Trapinch population.

Boom!

With a thunderous sound, Regigigas stopped in his tracks, and the remaining Fish-Men on the island also froze for a moment.

Until now, whether it was sea currents or enemy ships, nothing had been able to make Regigigas halt.

For him to stop suddenly now, there was only one reason. He had reached the target location.

And after stopping, Regigigas began walking toward Onigashima.

He intended to recreate Regirock and Registeel.

The two he had created earlier did not satisfy him. Now Regigigas wanted to use better materials to make them.
