Ethan hadn't actually dragged a star down from the sky. Destroying the entire area just to win a fight would be a terrible waste. The burning sphere looked terrifying, but it was weaker than one of his supermassive energy spheres. It couldn't even break Seraphine's defensive shield.
The people below had no way of knowing that.
The battlefield, which had rung nonstop with combat, fell silent. Many people stared upward, unable to even think of running. The fire filled so much of the sky that no matter which way they fled, they would still see it overhead.
Seraphine looked gravely at Ethan.
They hadn't even finished exploring Dawnreach. He wasn't planning to wipe the entire continent clean while he was at it, was he? Solmere Castle was the only target here. He needed to show some restraint!
Ethan noticed everyone watching him and smiled, giving them a reassuring nod.
The others exchanged glances. The more calmly he smiled, the less reassured they felt.
