Chapter 563 - Chapter 563: It's the End of the World, Part 7

"YOU HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THAT!?" Taro screamed, smiling wide as he'd be propelled by the Dragon-like bullet forged from the shot. He'd grip ahold of the beast's neck and tried to weave it down to crash into the children, but the trajectory was too strong. A proper viewing showed that the Dragon's body was forged by the bullet, unable to move unless controlled by Bronx himself. Its scales and eyes were iridescent, mostly in red, the tips of both were the same as the fruit, shining beautifully with the light of the lava pouring out. The Human Vritra recognized that in order to take control, he must have something take the bullet, letting it surround them, then use the body as the projectile. A suicide mission, for many, yet Taro already has his eyes set on one of them. A quick flick across his gauntlet, only needing two to set up an attack.

宝石

地球

Gem and Earth. A quick whistle was made to catch the Gambler's attention, seeing the plan in motion, watching as the bullet was aiming to kill all three in one swoop. The Lucky Bastard struck up a wide grin as he'd hold himself back, letting Envy deliver a torrent-like uppercut to try and slice him in two. What ends up happening, instead, was a foothold on the tar, letting him be held up so that he can rise and reach for the Dragonfruit Bullet. The two materials swarmed across his body, as he'd let it aim directly for his heart.

At the same time, Harvard was finally in position, casting Lemegeton and using both the needed boost of energy and the cracking Monster Seal, to act as his own bullet. "READY!?" He'd shout, the guttural roar of Xibal came as the Sundial ticked down to its last few numbers.

"X"

"XI"

Everything was in disarray. The slightest nick from the stone would be enough to disembowel and kill anyone. The slightest movement was enough to make them trip and expose half their skeleton if left to the whims of the Calamity's wrath. His aim was clear, as he can recall the strength the Monster Seal had against it, aiming straight towards Envy's head. A spell was infused with the bullet, letting it swirl and absorb the massive beast, creating its own Dragon Shot, with the Living Tar bearing witness to it closing in, his eyes widening in horror, his thoughts weighing in such betrayal.

BANG!!!!

Both connected to their respective target. Blood splattered through Axel's mouth and chest in his save, his heart adorned with the markings of the Dragon, a claw-like bulge nearly ripping through him, his suit slashed through the wound. Envy's, meanwhile, looked more like a drills, his eyes as mere dots, stunted, paralyzed by the impact. Steam and vapor was seen flowing out from the Tar, the signs of the Calamity's might still prevalent within the impact. Everyone was left in silence as they saw the two struck down, both in relief and in dread. Even Harvard's friends questioned if Harvard lost it, killing the very thing he promised to protect, his smile not convincing them in the slightest. In that silence, the bodies twitched.

Axel's was the first, the signature style of Taro brimming through the internal wounds. Utilizing the Gems and its vast arsenal, it mingled alongside the Dragonfruit. Molded around it. Letting the Earth act as its soil to embed within his system, letting it grow and spread out rather than focus in and pierce. In a way, his body became its garden, the energy surging across his body, channeling his Luck Magic to a staggering rate, nigh comparable to Xibal's when he was alive. Before, the two were at a stalemate, the exception to the Calamity. Now, if the beast were still alive and roaming free, it could've overpowered that Misfortune and weaponized it against the group further, guaranteeing death to the Son's of Man and the Card Magician's Forces. His body even showed small changes, having the same highlights bloom in his hair, his eyes more draconic, his neck showing the small scales, before recovering it back into proper skin.

Envy's, however, was even more staggering. The thought still loomed in everyone's minds if this was truly the end. That he dies with Xibal inside, letting loose a worse apocalypse than they imagined. He was quick to speak up, his voice faint, bubbling across his body. "Harvard... Everyone. I want to confess something first. I am sorry. I am sorry for both scaring you... and holding back such information." A small pause, left to the imagination for many, making them confused as to why he was apologizing, before he continued. "...Adel told me he only has nine months to live after he used his magic. I was scared that everyone would look at me as a monster for hiding this fact. As of now, seven months are what he can spare. His Final Gambit acts as his new lifespan... and he entrusted me with such knowledge that should've been shared much, much earlier..."

Stunned, shocked, appalled even. Harvard's expression changed from Joy to Anger. "EXCUSE ME!?! SEVEN MONTHS!? WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US EARLIER!?!" He'd shout.

What comes out of Envy next, swamped that anger with curiosity. With wonder. With hope. "...Because I never understood him. I never understood why he wanted to risk his life out in such a way. I never understood why he was willing to take that sacrifice instead of just... losing. This heart... This beating, bloody... brimstone for a heart. It's starting to be so clear to me why... It's starting to be clear to me why I should do the same... why I should fight. Why I should protect. Why I should fight against the one dubbed as my 'father.'" The markings left behind by Cupid's seal began to glow a bright red, his tongue quickly catching flames, slowly invading down his throat, yet still able to speak clearly. His eyes were engulfed just as much, swallowing around his head, his vile form burning up, becoming a smog.

"Because we only live once... We must make the most out of Life. Why must we hold back... when we can still fight?"
